Saturday 16th March fixtures etc

in my opinion games should be scheduled for Saturday and Tuesday every week in August and September, nice evenings typically, the kids can come watch football (no school) decent early evening light, save some on the electric for the floodlights.

Play the rest of the season as is but any game lost to the weather is autonatically rescheduled for the following Thursday evening, no need for letters emails notification periods, fixture secretaries involvement etc. etc. everyone involved knows saturdays game is off then it is rescheduled for the coming Thursday.

League cup games should all be played in April first round Saturday second round Tuesday and so on, as teams drop out they are available for any league fixtures still not completed via the above method

That would not be possible with many FA Vase & FA Cup matches taking place in those months.

yes we played 2 vase games in september and 1 midweek fixture, we could of have played 5 more league fixtures mid week

People on this forum are deluded

Duncs and a few others talk sense no beating around the bush straight down the middle

Yes and some of them dislike the fact people may not agree with their views. Just a reminder that people are allowed different views without having to put up with people riducling them because they are different.

For Example Duncs doesnt think I should be happy with Camberley this season. More than entitled to say that. For me I am happy if I see my club doing its utmost to keep away from the financial meltdown that other clubs enter by over spending. Our views differ and there is nothing wrong with that.

when have I ever agreed with clubs over spending,I have made it quite clear that I think nobody should be paid at this level it is the economics of fools as far as I am concerned,1 club I was involved with I know for a fact are skint yet they persist in giving a budget to thier 1st team all they are doing long term is damaging the club.and of course I criticise your exeptance of what has happened to your football team its a joke man.

Q's if you look back at the League tables (kindly provided by HKP) Guernsey were top at the end of August having played more League games than anyone and were also top at the end of September having played more than most. You must also remember that midweek dates following FA Vase / FA Cup matches are kept free to allow for any potential replays. Your fixture backlog has nothing to do with not having sufficient games scheduled in August / September but everything to do with having a poor draining pitch that you share with the Rugby team.

It was Mercury Rovers actually, Nigel ;)

The FA would never sanction a change to summer football anyway - even with the Qatar World Cup.

I knew we would find a reason for those tables eventually!

To be fair, more games were called off for reasons other than the pitch. But the pitch problem has of course cost us very dear and cannot be allowed to be repeated in future.

So in summary, if you are still reading.......

13 games (39.4%) 7 home and 6 away were hit by the weather

13 games (39.4%) 8 home and 5 away clashed with the FA Vase

5 games (15.2%) 2 home and 3 away were moved due accomodate a revised fixture list

1 game (3.0%) home clashed with Boxing Day

1 game (3.0%) away clashed with a Premier Cup game

http://www.guernseyf...read.php?2,2690

On thing of note in the above, only one more game has been lost to the weather at home compared to away, despite everyone saying how bad the problemsa are at Footes Lane.....

My point there is Duncs is that we disagree with each other without stupid personal insults. Others dont do that. there are too many people on here who when someone disagrees with their view that they feel the need to make a personal insult on that person when they have as much right to have a view as they do.

All of these barriers are mainly supposition come on fellas wake up and smell the coffee if we continue in our present format many teams will fall by the wayside, mark my words in 20 years time this current format will be laughed at when mentioned,it is crazy, and Powelly don't jump on the krooner band wagon please.

3G would be nice but no team at this level would be able to afford it unless they had a sugar daddy. The FA would never fund 3G pitches at this level, too expensive.

You’re right that there are some grasses that will grow at lower temperatures but they need higher temperatures to germinate and they certainly will not during November – January. This would mean clubs would have to go the costlier method of using turf to cover the bare patches on their pitches. Also you could get the opposite to what we have had this season and that is drought conditions. That will mean more water from the tap which is likely to be metered or on water at all if there is a hose pipe ban. I can’t see clubs making any more money switching to a summer season and I don’t think the FA would sanction it unless it is right across the board. The weather in this country varies year on year and in the past most seasons there is not a problem but there are always some clubs that have problems with their pitches during good seasons. Making wholesale un-necessary changes will cause more teams to go to the wall. I think you need to have more of a general understanding of how a club is run and that includes also on maintaining a football pitch throughout the year to get a better understanding of the pros and cons to what you are suggesting. I could add in same vane as you would by saying just picking the team in the past does not qualify you to comment on how to run a club. All those that have had a go at the grounds men during this wettest year since records began would perhaps go and offer their services to their local club’s grounds man and then they can see first hand how difficult and time consuming job it is.

Was at Ash Manor today as my son was playing on the 3G there. Saw Ace there and I am sure he will agree with me when I say it was flooded !!!!

Aggred Krooner, so much rain today made any surface (including "All Weather") unplayable! Northern Ireland are moving towards 3G surfaces but only in the Irish Premier League, and they have some rain over there!!!

Not sure the answer is to change the surface, would just like to see a little more common sense applied to how to deal with the backlog! To force teams in to playing three games in three days is ludicrous.

Most standard installed 3G pitches will still flood but if they are made to Fifa standard like what Maidstone have then the appropriate drainage gets put in under the surface.

They have only lost one home game this season and that was due to heavy snow.

They haven't had a game rained off.

So you can't really compare it to the kind of 3G you see at somewhere like goals ect
