Seeby is not the answer to all our problems. A change of attitude is what is needed. In the second half, our attitude stank.

 

O'Toole did his best to get sent off. No fight when going behind whatsoever. Not the signs of a team than believes they're going to get promoted!

Having not been able to attend, I can't really comment on how the game unfolded, but it seems to be a perfect example of why we haven't won this league down the years. Not clinical enough in front of goal by far, and we let leads slip away. It sounded like we missed chances in the first half and let them off the hook. Having been fairly optimistic we could still win the title, even I can't see it now, but still think we will make the playoffs. We have developed something of a reputation for being 'chokers' though.

 

Another disappointment is Bateman's comments about Daventry in one of the local papers (following the 1-1) which was only going to fire them up and it sounds like it did just that in the second half. Very silly.

What I am completely baffled by is lose NBH and revert to 4-4-2... Last season, we were excellent in a 3-5-2 and then went to pieces when we reverted to 4-4-2, by the time SB decided it was time to change back to 3-5-2 for the play off semi final the confidence in the team had completely gone...

 

Fast forward this season, 3-5-2, strong, solid and scoring goals then NBH leaves and we revert to 4-4-2 to accommodate certain players, and lose consistency completely and lose to average teams... I give up, we never ever learn, we can all see it so why can't the management, revert back to 3-5-2 and stick with it, put Kyle Anthony in NBH's position and leave the team alone... In a 4-4-2 we are too gung ho and we play well for 45 minutes then fall apart!

If, as Radders tweets say, we were looking tired and under the cosh and Daventry were getting stronger as the second half progressed I sincerely hope we made at least 2 or hopefully all 3 subs or whats the point of having players on the bench?

I wasn't at the game so not in a position to comment on the game, but once again we have demonstrated the fickle nature of football. We lose 1 game and all of a sudden it's 'oh no we won't make the playoffs'. I for one am willing to believe that we can still make the playoffs until the chance is gone. Yes it's frustrating, but did we not win 3 and draw 1 of the 4 previous games?? We all know about the potential for our players to become frustrated, but we seem to be surprised every time it happens. These things happen, we were never going to win every game in a congested fixture list like this, so keep the faith and believe!

Automatic promotion now extremely unlikely, but we could still make the 4th play off spot, anything higher being unlikely as other results went against us again.

 

If we don't make the play offs, Fa Cup run not wsithstanding, it will have been a poor season.

I see that he's training for a marathon and I think it was either Sunday or Monday he did a 17 mile run. Not sure that's ideal after a game on heavy ground on Saturday and as preparation for a game on a Tuesday.

Going by Radders Twitter feed we seem to have been running out of steam as the games progressed and Daventry have got stronger.

 

I think questions have to be asked about our so called 'strong squad' when it seems that we were unable to name the full 5 subs.

 

Looking at the players not available tonight we have Smith and Rhone who are injured, of the others there's only really Bateman (who's away in France a lot) and Perkins and maybe Sweeney who hasn't played for most of the season.

 

It seems we have gone from having a strong squad to a pretty threadbare one.

 

Disappointing result but not the end of our season.

I believe we do have a strong squad,Reading Rebel, but you can't legislate for injuries or players leaving or our manager not playing certain ones much ie Logie,Fraser,Bateman,Marfo and not making use of our bench better in games !

 

I would like to see Jerome Anderson back,as he would add pace to the team and the ability to pass a player.With him and Jake Parsons,we would have plenty of invention in creating our attacks.With Simon Sweeney returning,we have the opportunity of shoring up our defence by playing 3 centre halves and have plenty of options there.

Only just got home after dreadful traffic congestion getting off the m40 at wyscum. First half was excellent with parsons burgess and o'toole outstanding and the whole team battling and working so hard. Started the second half slower but still battling then as soon as the goal went in we went to pieces. You could tell we were slipping as just before the first goal browney and jacko were yelling at everyone to keep going and their keeper responded by telling their players that was a sign they could tell we were struggling. O'toole went looking for trouble and stopped playing football, although their 2 and 9 could both have been sent off for their retaliation towards him. Difficult for motm but burgess was probably the only one of the three top first half performers who kept going in the second although most of his good work came in the centre when he was meant to be left wing which in turn is where most if their attacking threat came from. Probably go with ash Deeney who was the one man who kept driving is on when they were dominating. All in all a real shame but I still believe we will make the play offs.

Thanks for the excellent tweets last night Radders, have to say I did have a horrible feeling at half time when it sounded like we had been well on top but failed to get more than the one goal lead. I thought the midfield selection was slightly odd, as Burgess has been playing at his best recently in the central position but could understand wanting to get Anthony back in the side.

 

It is difficult to know how we should play at the moment, 3-5-2 we look most solid but we struggle to score enough goals and end up losing some of Parsons quality on the wing and 4-4-2 we create a lot more chances but seem to open up at the back.

No player should be playing Sundays if they are getting paid to play for SLOUGH.This was stamped out years ago or is this just another example of poor management ?

Not an example of poor management,it's an example of no respect for what the management and the club as a whole are trying to achieve!

 

However,it's down to the players discretion at this level,so I don't think there's much that can be done about it.

 

Also by his twitter comment about Barry,I wonder what charm school he attended.

 

If he just got on with his game,he would definitely be playing at a higher level but because he's so mouthy and obnoxious to officials and such like, I suppose that's why he is at Slough.Had he been a more quieter,respectful bloke ,then he would have still been at Chesham or been snapped by some team higher by now!

 

So I suppose that could be looked at as a blessing but I'm not always sure?! ha ha ha [how ironic].

I don't think we should be questioning his ability one bit. He is clearly a good player as has been proved by him breaking his way into our top 20 goalscorers in under 150 games.

 

If he has been playing on a Sunday then he would have been the last 2-3 years so why is it an issue all of a sudden.

 

We are all frustrated yes but we need to dust ourselves of and go again. If quality is available to bolster the squad we need to snap it up. If not we need to continue to get behind our squad and get promotion

Have to agree that Burnell is underperforming at present not my opinion but based on fact He has played 27 league games and the last 13 have produced just 7 goals and only 1 against a top team Im not sure why this is Everyone has dry spells but he has missed a lot of chances recently he would have snapped up at the beginning of the season.Lets hope he finds top form again in these last few vital weeks

NEGATIVITY, NEGATIVITY !!!!

 

 

We lose one game and 75% of people become negative all of a sudden, "we will never make the play offs". Then when we win all of a sudden attitudes change, make your minds up.

 

Then one person suggests (from out of the blue) that danny is playing sunday league football and all of a sudden everyone is outraged. Even if he was playing sunday league football he is still our top goalscorer and without him we wouldnt be where we are and we would have no chance of making the play offs.

 

We will make the play offs, the title is looking doubtful now.
