andyetfc
I suppose the pre season friendly between the two sides is now off?
thecoldend
It was abandoned on 85 minutes. Crazy! I think the league may let the result stand? Can they or is it FA rules to replay? If they do its a bit roughbon Thurrock having to travel again. I wonder what the 'fan' who rather crudely barracked Kirbs and the ref at times with a barrage of f's and other swear words throughout our game made of it? Don't think it's crazy as the laws state that the team cannot play with 6 so the referee had no choice but to abandon the game. Seems strange that some players took 85 minutes to have themselves 'removed' from the game!
thecoldend
I meant it was crazy that 5 players got sent off in 5 seperate incidents in 45 minutes. I'm sure more will come of this.

Tiger
The guidence states: Although a match may not START if either team consists of fewer than seven players, the minimum number of players in a team required for a match to CONTINUE is left to the discretion of member associations. However, it is the opinion of the International F.A. Board that a match should not continue if there are fewer than seven players in either team. If a team has fewer than seven players because one or more players has deliberately left the field of play, the referee is not obliged to stop the match and the advantage may be played. In such cases, the referee must not allow the match to resume after the ball has gone out of play if a team does not have the minimum number of seven players. andyetfc
Law actually states that a match can't START with less than 7 players. Same difference. Start equals restart so after the fifth guy went off, the referee couldn't 'get the game going again'.
Chase Side Towner
Result stands, pending an appeal (although I would doubt W&F would want any more negative publicity). http://www.isthmian.co.uk/abandoned-match-result-stands-13415/ Interesting take on the match from Thurrock supporters who were there. Looks like the ref was spot on with the first 3 reds, then the last 2 it was the players trying to get themselves sent off. http://thurrockfc.websitetoolbox.com/post/Wingate-match-today-6245341
Tom S
Looking at the FA website it would appear that Marc Weatherstone picked up his 10th (or possibly 15th) yellow card of the season as he starts a three game suspension on the same date as the five red carded players. Six suspensions starting on the same day (three for four games, one for three games and two for one game) including the whole back four that started against doesn't bode well for the chances of staying/getting out of the relegation mix. Chase Side Towner
Carshalton and one other for the drop for me. Looking at our next 6 games (with the rescheduled H&R match thrown in), we've got 2 home and 4 away, and all at the moment teams above us, some in decent form, others not so. We'll need to be at our best to get a decent number of points from these, so these suspensions for W&F may end up being a blessing in disguise by the end of the first week in April.
