I made my first visit to Hornchurch today as a groundhopper, as Orient were away and I had a free afternoon.

I thoroughly enjoyed the game and the fantastic support given to the team by those on the covered terrace.

I have blogged about my visit today at http://spen666.wordpress.com/2013/03/10/ground-hopping-afc-hornchurch-fc-v-bath-city-fc-saturday-9th-march-2013/

I can't see anyway Hornchurch will go down if the team play like they did today. Thanks for a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon to the players and the crowd

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

I must say that despite the relatively small attendance, the noise and support from those on the covered terrace was very impressive.

Its a shame that on a Saturday when there was no West Ham game on that a few more of their fans could not be attracted to your games. I wonder if any thought has been given to trying to promote the club amongst West Ham fans? Perhaps reduced admission prices at some games for West Ham season ticket holders?

There must have been numerous West Ham fans at a lose end yesterday. The chance of a pint whilst watching a local side would have been attractive to some. I suspect many do not know of AFC Hornchurch's existence or simply never thought of looking for a local game to watch.

Hi mate.

We have tried certain things, posters, leaflet distribution, kids free etc etc amongst other things.

The problem nowadays is fans of clubs like west ham,can sit at home on their computers and watch any premier league game.Until this is sorted out and made illegal then many smaller clubs will struggle, alternatively non league games should be played on a Saturday and League games on a Sunday or Vice versa,at least play championship and premier league games on a different day to non league if they are gong to continue to make games easy to be seen on the Internet.

With regards to reduced admission prices for fans of other clubs,I can see the logic in it and know that other clubs have used these initiatives with some success but I personally don't believe in it simply because the fans of the club who turn up week in week out pay the top price and fans of the local premier league club get it cheaper.

A simple alternative would be for prices to be lowered in non league,it costs more to get into a BSS game as it does to stand on Dortmand massive covered terrace for a Bundesliga home game,

Yeah, you have a point, but when I pay add the travel costs £2.80 return to Hornchurch or the tube/ aairfare to Dortmund, it is still slightly cheaper to get into Hornchurch

It is sad that people prefer to sit at home on PC rather than get to a live game. I'm a Newcastle fan, but don't watch them on TV as I prefer to get to live games. I'd rather watch 2 sides in park than watch a TV game
