Saturday 9th March fixtures etc

I think Lyndon being classed as a good manager is very debatable as the way he conducts his business isn't always in line with the rules.

His team are doing well this season and playing some nice football but he has been manager of Epsom for quite a few seasons now and dellivered nothing at all.

Plus the money is starting to run out from the sale of their ground.

I would be very surprised if they gain promotion.

Hearing two very different bits of sad news coming out of E&E this week. One I'm not sure I'm allowed to mention and the other is the passing of former Secretary Maryse Oakes who I always found to be helpful and polite.

The other bit of news is fine to advise bomaya, should you consider it newsworthy.

As for frustin's views, I could sit there and say nothing, or toe the official line and say that I couldn't possibly comment about it, but I can honestly and genuinely say that I am unaware of any occasion when our Manager has done anything untoward.

If you are referring to approaches to players (and I'm guessing here) then surely that sort of thing happens all the time between all clubs at this level, so if that is the "rule" being broken I don't really see it as an issue. However, if it is something else, then I think that telling half the story is unfair on Lyndon who then doesn't get the chance to defend himself against what is basically a smear as it stands.

Since he has been our Manager the standard of football has improved immeasurably from the mid 2000s and if by "achieving nothing at all" you mean in terms of trophies then yes, you'd be correct, but that happens to most clubs and we do have to operate a restrictive budget so what would you expect? In terms of achievement he and his staff have put together a good group of players and if we were to finish in the top five then it would be the third time in seven years he had done this. No one else has achieved this since the eighties, so I would dispute that nothing has been delivered. We also have a stability at the club and many long term supporters, players and staff contribute to that mentality.

Your third point is somewhat stating the obvious seeing as we've been homeless since 1993. We were hardly going to have multi millions remaining. I don't really see the aim of this point.

Your fourth point I agree with. However, I do still believe at present that we can hang on to second place this season and as long as the players still believe (and we'll probably find that out on Saturday against Molesey) then promotion is very much a possibility. A team that finished in lower midtable last season would always be a surprise.

Don't get me wrong, all is not well here and I most definitely do not have my rose coloured glasses on. I could go into major detail about a number of issues affecting the club, but no one else here is really that interested, and ultimately other clubs have similar or even different problems. One of those problems is NOT the standard of football as the team has done really well this season.

Hmmm very interesting reading.

Strange that you would be guessing it's to do with approaches of players as I never said what I was referring too.

What I do find interesting though is that you feel that some rules are there to be broken from your comment "I don't really see it as an issue" when breaking certain rules as you feel everyone's doing it.

Rules are rules and they are all put in place for a reason otherwise what's the point in having them.

Illegal approaches are rife in the CCL. Has been the same for years.

I can name at least 3 this season that affected us, but I wouldn't do that on here.

I agree with you this is not the place to name and shame clubs who are guilty of that particular type of rule breaking.

I'm sure the league will deal with all those clubs accordingly.

The league, and the county FA's do deal with this if reported.

Yes frustin rules are rules, you're right. I was only referring (as CC has confirmed) that it's one of those rules that isn't enforced or adhered to quite so strongly, largely because it's almost impossible to police.

And I must reiterate, I was only guessing and used that as an example of a rule that is broken frequently. If you feel there is something else going on that is worse, then you should take the appropriate channels, either write to our club or the league. Otherwise, your comments about Lyndon shouldn't really go on here without some sort of evidence.

And thats where the problem lies CC we are typical English we won't complain. Perhaps clubs should be named and shamed as a deterrent so the CCL can keep an eye on these named clubs, otherwise this will continue to happen. Bring notice to the CCL of the 3 incidents you know of, or how the hell will there be steps made to stop all this ? BUT, on the other side of the coin, there are so many ways of communication nowadays and outright lies make it very difficult to prove a ''tapping-up'' allegation, It even goes on in the professional game be it players, managers.and coaches........ Oh well c'est le vie !.
