2 steps forward and about 40 backwards

Why does it always happen to us, that as soon as something good happens to Hornchurch it feels like its snatched away from us all.

We get a glimmer of glory with the playoff final and then bring in decent players and to play in the Conference South for the first time in 8 years then it just goes wrong???

:bawling: :(

It was a massive achievement to get us up and it will be an even bigger achievement to stay up. We've still got games to go and it's not over yet - having said that it's not our best week in the season.

Lol,don't worry

We should all be thankful that we have a club.

My opinion is that maybe this promotion came a bit early in the current owners reign. Its only this season that we seem to be out of debt.Probably not bring able to throw everything behind the manager financially as we would like.

Players come and go,that's the nature of the beast and we are in my opinion a Ryman premier club at present punching above our weight but only ever do slightly. If we stay up this season it would probably be our greatest achievement since reforming, despite me thinking we are better than many in this league, that's our starting X1,this is a squad game and at present our squad was always going to be weaker.

was a great day winning the play off finals last season back at last after all the troubles of the past , thought we could go on and settle down to go on and hold a mid table finish in the con south for a few seasons but not looking that way now to be honest , looking like ryman league is maybe our level with the support we have :( dont think that will change much if we go down i have noticed the crowds in the ryman league as a whole look lower than ever this season

I'm absolutely delighted to have a club to support after all that's happened.

If we have been punching above our weight then I reckon it's down to a great board and coaching staff making that happen.

Think we've gone passed "Lucky to have a team to support"

Been a good learning curve this season.

We could have won quite a few games if we had taken our chances.

We let in too many goals from inside the six yard box.

Whatever happens this season, we'll have to start again.

Hopefully we'll have a good end of season, then look forward and not back.

When you are successful, then it usually follows that fans' expectations go up with that success.

I tend to look at the positives that we have had. We've paid off over £100K of debt that the current board inherited and got promoted last year against teams with larger fan bases and larger budgets. I'm sure that people like Missunderstood would like to continue to suggest that we are some sort of parasitical con-man club, but those days are long gone. I'm guessing that Farnborough's finances are worse off than ours for example.

It's been a tough season, and as we've been relatively successful in recent seasons it might be difficult for some people to see us struggle.

If we do go down (and obviously there is a possibility that could happen, you can't discount that from happening) then when we get promoted again (as I'm sure we will), we will be more prepared for this league second time around. That's not happened yet and at this moment in time we are still very much a BSS club.

Set pieces have been a weakness for us, we would have got more points if we had dealt with them better, but that may improve with new personnel.

Well said Simon. Guess we expected more of the playoff crowd to follow us this season. Can't understand why they didn't at least turn up for the first games of the season.

most of the posters on this forum would still support the team if they went back down to the essex senior league im sure , but with the numbers in here it wouldnt make much of a crowd its the casual support thats not turning up and i dont think much else can be done apart from drag them in , if we go back down to the ryman league it wont help raise crowd figures thats for sure and i dont think it would be that easy to get back up again no league is when you are going for just 2 promotion places each season as many other teams with bigger budgets than the urchins have found out ,
