Cranfield United v Mk Dons youth team.

Oh to be a manager, just done the dressing room, nets and marked the pitch I love being a mug

That's what always got Steve Orchard’s goat when he was at New Bradwell St Peter and why he jumped ship to go to Whitworths when New Bradwell were flying so high in 2007/2008, the Manager shouldn’t have to do that

Good game last night 4-2 to the young dons 0-0 at half time.Put on 1 under 18 and 3 under 15s one of which scored ,a decent game soured a little as usual in the bar afterwards with committee members pointing out that the game had costs us £57 pound for officials yet instead of standing on the gate for 1/2 hour and getting £2 off people just sit at the bar drinking all night knocking things i do.Its a shame as everyone knows cranfield is a nice place to play football but unfortunatly we have a committee in the main who do not give a monkeys about the football who i only see at meetings once a month and some people who don't want south midlands football at all including the reserve team manager but local beds football !!! Its a shame as when i joined the club we had a really succesfull reserves who had just won the south mids reserve league and a good unders 18s team. Now we have a reserves in the 3rd tier of local football and a ladies team. From the south midlands side of the club it has only got harder and harder since I have been manager losing those options to naturally bring players through. We have a football meeting tonight so lets see what happens rant over for now !

Wow Lee, I didn't realise you had such an ongoing battle with your committee. Genuinely feel for you. Not easy to run things without the support of others.

Jonno you don't know the half of it I love my banter with the hoodie sect but in all fairness it's a football club unfortunately cranfield is a social club and football is not the priority for most members in fact for some its a pain in the ar£e and apparently our darts team and skittles team bring in the money lol something needs to drastically change for me to be involved after the end of the season i need to able to appoint a new reserve team manager and with that players who want to progress to the first team and re introduce a under 18s again I don't think that is too much to ask. I've used nearly 45 players this season only 3 reserve team players have played once or twice that's not good enough. There is no natural progression in the club at all there was when I took over then the club made the changes to please a couple of regulars.

The committee in general are good people there are just a couple of idiots who believe that the club would be much better off playing football in the local beds county league ! Just to suit their own selfishness, even the reserve team manager was heard saying during the game v the dons on Wednesday who's paying for this ? A game where there were 4 different cranfield teams represented playing on our own pitch and which he could of collected entrance money is he was so concerned about loosing money instead of stood at the bar. The game cost £57 to put on in fees and was worth every penny just for the fact that 3 under 15s will remember playing for many years to come. The answer is the same people who are paying for all the floodlights that was on last night for 6 reserve team players to train.like I said just a few idiots.

Ouch! Can't see much future for the current set up if things don't change behind the scenes. A pity the committee don't share the manager's ambition and vision. Still, I'm sure there are plenty of clubs out there that would!
