Alcohol at Pitch Side

Recommended Posts

What are the rules in SSML league (I guess FA rules) regarding drinking alcohol while watching a match?

I have been to most of our away matches recently and have seen some clubs allow alcohol at pitch side as long as it is in plastic cups and some grounds not allow alcohol in any cup in the area around the pitch.

Alright in plastics at ours and allowed in glass on patio area outside the clubhouse and you can see a fair bit of pitch from there

I'm sure i've seen the Hertford mob with a few tins of tennants super and white lightenig throughout games ... Are cans alright at pitchside then aswell?

Alcohol is not allowed at pitch side or in the stands at Hanwell Town FC but can be drunk on the verander outside our clubhouse where you can see most of the pitch anyway.

Quite correct Savagebee.

Surrey rules are quite clear. NO alcohol outside the clubhouse except in segregated designated area.

Fines for breaking this rule are quite severe, if caught !

LoucasX - I'm assuming that you initiated this thread after reading the Walsall Wood v Guernsey match report from Saturday, how disgusting that the Walsall Chairman and his wife were seen standing by the side of the pitch openly swigging lager, what sort of example does that set:

FA Vase Quarter Final

Walsall Wood 0-0 Guernsey (aet)

Ground

I know it's only a Step Six ground BUT it wasn't too great. Clearly they weren't used to and weren't expecting a large crowd as even though there seemed to be plenty of club people and stewards around, they didn't seem to be doing all the useful things like getting people through the gate (many were still queueing at 3pm), sorting the parking inside the ground (there were cars blocking one of the main walkways - any sort of incident would have caused chaos) and despite tannoy warnings about not taking alcohol outside the bar, many were (this included the club chairman and his wife who stood next to the pitch with glasses and bottles of lager).

Also, nearly half the perimeter is currently a building site but it wasn't cordoned off so there were lots of people stood on mud and bits of rubbish. It was as if they'd forgotten there was a game on here today.
