Margate res 2 v 3 Erith Town.

To those who know me, i am pretty blunt in my opinions and try to comment truthfully. "Believe me this one hurts".

As you may know I am a big fan off reserve football and am a big believer in giving youth a chance to prove themselves. I have seen goodness knows how many hundreds of games in my time.

I was going to say, this was the worst I had ever seen in that period. Then i remembered the attitude and performance at Holmesdale a few seasons ago,it was equal, "no" there were in fact couple of gritty performances including Phil Fennel scoring a true strikers goal, on that baking hot August afternoon.

Gate started the game brightly pushing Erith into their own 1/2, before going 1-0 nil up on 18 minutes (from my position in the tea bar i can understand how difficult it is for "Wellsie" to see action at the other end) it was a case of not taking chances and tying up the game. Erith started to apply pressure, they gained the equaliser and Margate heads dropped.

The 2nd goal came from Margate loosing possession in the Erith 1/2. As easy as a warm knife slicing through butter Gate were 1-2 down.

I will admit i did not see the 3rd as i was thankfully busy shutting down the tea bar.

Gate did rally a little towards the end with a few good runs into the box and a consolation 2nd goal. Though i do not want to take away the glory of this goal from the scorer i believe it was due more to Erith trying to wind down the game and see it out.

I thought the Margate keeper was in fine form, but was left "up the creek without a paddle" by his team mates on so many occasions.

I also thought our trialist James Etherington looked "OK" well worth another look. I believe he was at Grimsby and is returning from a injury. His lack of match fitness did not show up amongst his immediate company.

M-O-M. The Afro hair styled Erith Centre back who took down a laid of every ball that came his way.

Roll on Tuesday.

Well I was at the game yesterday an wasn't great must say..did start well but few of the players I must say don't look interested in wanting it... An with the team down after a goal goes in why can't I hear the captain all game trying get them going..( he no captain) well what I think about the trialist not great.. Even if coming back from a injury..iv seen far better players in other reserves teams than him..
