V Daventry

Recommended Posts

sounds like the ref threatened Burnell and offered him a fight after the game. seriously if this is true that's absolutely mental and sums the disgrace power hungry joke of an official we had ruin a game today. Swift was wrong to continue mouthing off but its hard to respect anything that ref decided all game. should have just shut up and left it alone though

a draw isn't too bad but i fear for our automatic promotion chances with the others winning. still lot of games to go but its getting tougher and tougher

i do worry we are picking too many injuries at the wrong time. hopefully Smith Anthony Brown etc are not missing too long

Daventry's recent league form has been poor and their league position would suggest that they are not SERIOUS contenders this season but WE still couldn n't beat them at home!!

Another TWO points thrown away in our quest to get out of this poxy league.

Daventry even tried to help us by playing somebody SMALLER than Danny B and someone even HEAVIER than me.

Nothing to look forward to anymore with no POSITIVE news on the ground ever forthcoming.

If I sound pissed off it is because I AM - Hopefully I will feel better in the morning when the nurse gives me my bed bath.

Hard to judge the game. Not the most inspiring of performances but thought we were the better side and looked the more likely winners when we went down to 10. But let's face it the ref ruined the game.

We can blame the clueless officials all day long but the real reason why we only managed to scrape a point is because we were pretty clueless ourselves for 80 out of the 90 minutes.

It must rank up there with one of our poorest performances of the season with us continually giving the ball away and our inability to pass the ball over a couple of yards to an amber shirt.

Also disappointed with our lack of discipline which has reared it's ugly head again.

Burnell and Swift both yellow carded for gobbing off to the Ref and then Swift sent off for again giving verbals to the Ref.

When will the players learn that all they are doing is letting themselves and the team down?

In the last 10 minutes when we did put some passes together we showed how easy it was to create some good scoring opportunities against a big, physical but with limited ability Daventry team.

On the positive side we showed the character that we have in the team to come away with a point from a game that we could easily have lost.

Reading I agree to an extent. But when the ref is offering players outside, giving corners for shots that hit the bar and ballsing up two pens it is hard to keep quiet.

I said to their keeper our pen was wrong but once given he should have gone - he whole heartedly agreed!

I think Daventry came with the intention of stopping us playing. They put pressure on the ball high up the field and got numbers behind the ball, limiting us to a long ball game which doesn't suit us. Last 10 mins we started to find a bit of space and looked quite threatening. They will be happy with the point as that is all they came for.

Agree, it is hard but we all know that the officials you get in this league can be utter crap and the players should know better.

We've had this in the past and it's the same old players who do it. On another day Swift could have cost us all three points.

SB needs to nip it in the bud before it proves costly in other games where the Ref and officials are crap.

Agree again Reading. We all spotted the problem and we needed to rise above it and get the job done.

Ok, it wasn't great but the other teams above us will drop points as well as ourselves... I do think we will make the play offs but winning the league will prove a stretch too far I feel, I may be wrong as funnier things have happened. For all the joy the FA Cup run brought us I do feel it has hindered us in the long run, we can still go up but it will be a nail biter yet again!

We will not play well every week but we need to not play well and win, that is the mark of a good side, today reminded me of the Chalfont game to be honest, I think we could still be playing now and not have won as stupid as it sounds... We are dropping stupid points, need to get Brown and Anthony back in the starting 11 lively!

I don’t wanna be too hard on the team tonight, we are on a difficult schedule and players are dropping like flies. We were poor first half but I thought we played very well with ten men and looked like the only team who wanted to win. Lots of positives - Ryan O’Toole had his best game for us, Ash Deeney was excellent and Perko looked like he’d never been away. The ref was a mug, even his linesman seemed baffled by some of his decisions…apparently he’s due back with us soon for Biggleswade...can't wait!

Noooooooooooooooooo :scared: please tell me it's not true.

BTW I thought it was the inept linesman who gave the corner when the ball hit the angle of the post and crossbar and went behind for a goal kick.

I think we avoid him if we beat Frome actually, that's gotta be incentive enough for the lads on Wednesday. Slough Sec will confirm. We were talking with the other lino, who I have to say got everything about right.
