Update on Kent Senior Cup – Margate vs Dartford

I can't see that there was anything incorrect the way it was originally reported !

Fixture congestion for Dartford then the reason-poor souls .

15 league games left so almost two games evert week-thats terrible.

How many league games have Margate got left.

Oh-thats also 15 -interesting.

Lets hope we go on to win this cup-and meet Charlton along the way .

May mean one week with two midweek games-but surely better than training at this time of year.

A bit more from Kent FA as per www.kentishfootball.co.uk

As posted above 15 league games left for margate which is the same as dartford !

Yes-they have done well inthe trophy ,but thier cup games are all over now

A bit surprised-as its not as though Dartford will get into the play-offs-but equally won't be in relegation zonw-so a bit surprised by their apparent negativity to this.

Well, it does look if you take the Dartford statement that perhaps they felt they had no choice about withdrawing. You can see how we may well have received a message from KCFA initially that pointed that way. However we have basically gone with the message that the KCFA published after a conversation I had with an official. It is clear that comms in the KCFA is the main reason for the controvesy.

  • 2 weeks later...

Whatever the reason for Dartford not playing this fixture (did they withdraw or were they excluded by the KCFA) are we not entitled to compensation for this fixture loss.

Gate receipts and other sundry expenses lost to the club.

It seems to me that neither Dartford or the KCFA would want to be liable for any such costs - hence the confusion as to who said what regarding the fixture.

Just a thought.

Maybe. But how much money would we have made from a match against Dartford's kids?

Any amount is better than nothing . . . is it not?

If they were going to put out a kids side, why didn't they play it on the due date?

But what do we do now, with Lewes postponed I assume will take the last avail Tuesday last week of season. This leaves us Ebbsfleet which means we either play them on a Thursday with a lesser Team, or do we move a league match to a Thursday, or do we pull out.

If it helps Ebbsfleet have the same problem.

I suspect a lot of teams lose money on home ties in league and county cups. Gate money split plus expenses still have to be paid to the officials and for electricity and water usage plus everything else. As for their team, they were always going to field the weakest possible team they could get away with given they were trying to get to Wembley in the Trophy. This will be an even bigger problem next season when the league is 24 teams.
