manurgrate
A total contrast to the match at their place earlier in the season, yesterday' s match was mainly conducted in the midfield with very few chances or goal mouth incidents. We started brightly and could have gone ahead after some excellent work on the right by Samad. He was giving their No 3 a torrid time in the first ten minutes or so but sadly that was about the sum total of our attacking football in the match. Slough got a hold of possession in midfield and we looking to counterattack but were let down by final balls especially crossing, which was not up to our usual standard. We generally defended well and so it was a disappointment to concede just before half time, there seemed to be a deflection from a cross which gave the Slough player space to slot home a sharp volley. We looked at is we might make a game of it early after the break but we just ran out of ideas and never looked like scoring. Slough are a very good side and will no doubt be towards the top of the league at the end of the season. I thought it was a bit disappointing that we didn't try something different in the last twenty minutes or so, play 3 at the back, push someone up front. It almost seemed as though we settled for a narrow defeat. Slough let themselves down in the " playacting" department especially the No 4, who must have thought that the Oscars were being held a day early. Great to see Jacob Mingle back the club- a big and welcome surprise.
