readingrebel
Old chestnut I know but today some of the attendances beggar belief. AFC Hayes played second in the table Godalming and managed 71 Beaconsfield played Royston and had 63 Daventry who are in the running for a play off place played top of the table Burnham and managed a paltry 80 Do these clubs really deserve success when very few people in the respective towns really care? Irishadrian
It depends how you view it I would be more concerned about our continuing poor attendances At the last census we had a population of 140000 so our average 220 represents less than one fifth of one per cent of our popultion the populations of Daventry and Beaconfield at the same census were 22300 and 12000 respectively so their apparantley tiny gates are a much greater proportion of their populations which is the town that doesnt care? HEAVY TRUCKER
yes but you can prove anything with percentages, though straight figures mean nothing unless they are broken down into there various categories like how many are from the home teams town, how many are floating supporters that just go around various grounds to watch a match, percentage figures only mean something when they are taken in context with all the variabilities of the information available . ie 100% of 1 is 1 as is 100% of 100. really what only counts is the number of bums on seats end of story. Don Juan DeMarcus
Also those clubs do play in their towns not 5 miles down the road...
PremiershipJoyRider
I have always felt it a bit unfair when we goad other clubs for their apparent lack of support. In real terms for the size of the town that we represent it is US that has a lack of support. Having said that if we ever do get back into the town of Slough again our gates will increase significantly. The one thing that has always impressed me with the Rebels support is that a high percentage of the HOME support does travel to the AWAY games. Mr Rebel
The one thing that has always impressed me with the Rebels support is that a high percentage of the HOME support does travel to the AWAY games. think thats a more valid argument or point to make than the attendances overall. we do tend to travel with a vast majority of the home support whereas other teams don't seem to have that for whatever reason
Bernie Gogan
I think clubs deserve success whatever their attendances. However, is that success sustainable? Could Beaconsfield or Burnham cope with a promotion (could we for that matter)?
Sir Rebel1965
On the 23 occasions we have played league games (home and away), on only four of those dates we have not been involved in the largest gate. Of the 4 occasions we were not involved with the larges gate, 3 out of the 4 were games involved Rugby and the 4th Godalming. Overall it looks like ourselves, Rugby and Godalming are holding up the attendances of this league. The mighty Chalfont had a claimed attendance of 41 yesterday - must have been a lot of people out walking their dog!
RebelDelaney
RR me and my mate ended up watching AFC Hayes v Godalming yeah I know don't ask why. The first thing I said to my mate was how do these clubs survive there was more noise and support from the away supporters as well. It is only the good hearted people who sponser and the true die hard supporters at all our clubs and this is not only in amateur football that is keeping football being the nunber one sport watched in this country but for how much longer. As for Hayes they were very direct quick especially the wingers this is where both goals came from they could of been 3 nil up early in the second half Mendy scored and like the rest of the team will be up to beating us on tuesday there goalie got hurt and struggled for alot of the game the defence did every thing to protect him. Godalming played the better football and should of won they missed alot of chances but you know those chances against us would go in.
