Ashford 0 slough 1

Well what a difference a week makes. Excellent performance by the whole team on what was a very poor pitch against a very physical opposition. Lots of positives today including another excellent all action midfield display by Ollie burgess topped off by a lovely winning goal. Jake parsons looked much more dangerous today and produced a number if dangerous balls into the box as well as putting in much more noticeable effort with his chasing back. It was also nice to win a real battle of a game which has sometimes been a struggle in the past. By far the best player on the pitch was Adam Martin who, along with Ollie, dominated the midfield despite getting a regular battering the air, particularly from the Ashford 6 who somehow remained in the pitch for the 90. I would say it was martins best game for us at least since his first season and the games against Romulus and hitchin. The only negatives I can think of was smithy missing another couple of chances which won't help his confidence although he is still putting himself in the right areas and also another little tiff between Danny and ed which is not great to see. But overall a really positive afternoons work to complete a good turn around since last weekend!!!

The pitch looks worse than it plays but has had a lot of games on it recently. I'd rather have that problem than the fixture pile up Slough have, although I also appreciate that the root cause of the Rebels' congested schedule is the team's success!

superb performances by all but especially the battle shown by Burgess (what a goal btw), Parsons and most of all Adam Martin. finally Slough aren't afraid to give as good as they get in terms of the physical battle and the effort was top notch

may be wrong but pretty sure Ashford didn't even have a single shot in the whole game. think Murphy cleared from the line at a corner in 1st half but not sure how it got there. Warro certainly didn't make a single save. much improved from Murphy today actually after struggling a bit recently

results went not too bad today could have been better but we just have to look after ourselves and get the win

Competent performance today against a young battling Ashford team.

Have to say also a better game from Danny Murphy especially second half where he went in for a few 50/50 tackles and won the ball.

A few contenders for MOTM: Martin, Burgess, Parsons and Anthony with Adam Martin getting the vote from me.

Ashford did have one shot in the first half, none in the second and there was a goalwards header blocked in the first. They couldn't really get going and we battled throughout to prevent any penetration by them and should have had a couple more goals, both opportunities spurned by Ed Smith when through one on one.

We've got to keep churning out wins, 1-0 will do! I could be wrong but we look better away from home, where the opposition are obliged to be a bit more positive. We'll see after Tuesday at AFC Hayes where no doubt the usual "get your own ground" quips will be to the fore.

Although the margin was only 1-0 I thought we more or less controlled the second half and the three points always looked safe.

I thought MOTM was Adam Martin closely followed by Ollie Burgess.

I was bit concerned that one of my favourite players Alex Brown did not even make the bench as I think he has been superb this season.

I would also like to say that I love going to Ashford Town as I think they are a lovely friendly club and the complete antipathy of the next club that we have to visit on our travels !!!

Always nice to see players not involved in the game(whether thru injury or whatever else) watching....yesterday as well as Alex , Dominic and Dave Deeney were in the stand.........judging by comments they found watching Slough Town as much of a strain as we often do

Good win yesterday.Shame most of the top teams gained points, except that of Daventry and Royston.

Isn't it good that we have such strength in depth and that we have such a strong bench to choose from. This is going to be crucial for the amount of games we've got coming up.

Looking forward to Saturday's game against Daventry.Should be a cracker. I know we've got AFC Hayes before that match but that's an away game that never fills me with much excitement and is hardly awe-inspiring.
