michael
they are right in some respects, that all of a sudden-it can just 'click' and hopefully it will 'click' for Purcell at Margate. I always get a bit worried though when you get a player who can 'play out wide' or through the centre. Implies to me one of those half hearted fluffy lightweight wide right types who can do a bit of most things but are masters of none. Open minded though-expectations not great-but fingers crossed that it all falls into place for him at Margate and wish him well. theoldman
I've seen George play a bit and I can tell you, this guy shoots from just about anywhere, it's the first thing to come into his mind. Has a great dig with his left foot and hopefully will inspire our other shot-shy boys to have a go. Played on loan at Dartford with Rookie and scored a great goal at Woking after Carl played him through. I'll see if I can find it on the Woking site and put a link on. Don't know about the injuries the Tonbridge Angels fans mention, but he will be a refreshing addition, with his shoot on sight policy. Welcome George. michael
encouraging then. Forgot he will have played with rook a fair bit. A change of scene and fresh start can work well-and again =hope it does. equally-whitnell may just as easily go on an inspired run of scoring a goal a game. Just concerns me a fraction that from the little i know - the likes of dolby, rhodes purscell, whitnell and murphy are all similarish type of players;and the one ingredient that seems to bring success in the ryman is a big bold bully type of player-which like it or loathe it-seems to be the pre-requisite for success
theoldman
Forgot to say all the best to Longy, certainly had an eye for goal, but I was never sure what his best position was. I don't think he was a winger, as I would think of a winger, i.e. beat the full back and get a wicked cross in. I would think Rhodes and Bodkin would be our best two wingers at the moment. It's certainly something I've noticed all season, the absolute lack of quality crosses. Think back to Maidstone, Bury Town etc, these guys had proper wingers that crossed for fun and caused us no end of problems. Wish we would do the same. I haven't been able to go to the recent away games, so a big apology if we have started doing it!
