A piece of History

Ladies and Gentleman,

I believe history has been made as Dunstable Towns unbeaten record in the league makes them the only side in the Pyramid Leagues right up to the premiership to be unbeaten as Spennymoor Town were beaten by Darlington.

I hade a call from the Non League paper so the rumours are fairly accurate if so what a great achievement and one to be proud off and one the SSMFL should be proud off. Long may it continue.

Well done to everyone at DTFC.

I am sure if my information is incorrect than someone will let me ave it !!!!!

Amazing what money can buy

Exactly the type of response I expected. Along with being wished by the St Mags players last week that we die in a car crash on the way home, more reasons to hope we manage to go unbeaten and out of this league.

I used to berate the Southern League clubs and their knuckle-dragging supporters, but some "supporters", players and club officials in this league make them look like real charmers.

Winslow boy our main aim is to get promoted but yes it would be a great achievement to go all season unbeaten, Bedfordman yes your right money can buy you success Bedford done it for years, however am I right in thinking that you can also be unsuccessful with money as Bedford and Hemel have Also proved that over the years.

Remember if you have the opportunity to have a new facility wihout having to pay for flood lights pitch repair general maintenance electric bills gas bills etc it puts you in a great position to challenge for promotion and therefore we utilise our budget accordingly there is no hidden agenda there plus our sponsors believe in getting DTFC back to the southern league it's quite simple.

Anyway well done DTFC despite what other clubs, supporters or players think the SSMFL should be proud of their member reaching this goal and is a great advert for this league.

While it is a considerable achievment by dunstable , i do not think that everyone would agree that they are a great advert for the league, they are a ssml team with a budget that some southern league premier sides do not have never mind div 1 sides and they are playing at step 5 ! i would use oxhey jets as a far better example of what can be achieved at this level with minimal playing expenses but a team that is built on old traditions such as team spirit , decent players, and good orginisation , Dunstable will probably achieve there goal and get promoted but i would guess that a lot of managers at this level would back themselves to do as good a job if they had the same circumstances and most other club officials would like to have someone else take care of ground maintenance and all the other stuff that goes with having your own ground.

I have given dunestable stick in the past for heavy spending but i disagree massively. Cash is obviously a great bonus for these boys that do deserve it. BUT before that you need a buzz created around the place first, DTFC have done that this year but not because of cash but because of there spirit of loving football- when you have players like Tony Burnett playing powerleague on a friday night and then going out on a sat still fresh as ever you cant buy that. Everyone knows Oxhey have always had the monopoly of players over there on that estate to do whatever they wanted but never have because they struggle to create that buzz until this year! Paul waites created it years ago and got them here. Now just this year they'v finally created it again - but is that because of spirit? Or is that because this is the first year they'v started paying expenses? Opinions opinions ....

Even so massive achievement by DTFC and dont let anyone take anything away from you! Even me good old AFC muckers are happy deep down im sure!
