STFC v North Greenford

Recommended Posts

It's funny how different fans have divided opinions on who played well and who didn't. For me Kyle Anthony was the pick of the bunch. Also Jake Parsons deserved some credit for working extremely hard and must have been out to prove to some of his detractors on here, that he is better than some claimed him to be at the Chalfont game.

For me,he's well worth a place in the team.

I wasn't so impressed with Ollie Burgess,as I find he drifts in and out games,as he did last night. Thought Dominic Rhone worked hard enough but he often chooses to run into the opposition player for a free-kick than try to use his pace to beat a player and go past him to get the cross in.However,he was clearly fouled by the Greenford No 9 and a caution should have been given to the Greenford player. The referee was too lenient at times.

Thought both keepers played well last night. We had plenty of chances especially in the 2nd half to have put the game out of Greenford's reach but failed to capitalise till Jake's goal. More worrying though, was that Greenford had three clear cut chances of their own, which had they been better finishers would have given Slough bigger causes of concern than what materialised. To me, our defence looks leaky and we have yet to find the solution for NBH. Better sides will expose this weakness.

I thought Ollie Burgess was certainly better last night than against Chalfont but then so was every other player.

For me he certainly is good enough when he's on a good night but does tend to drift in and out of games and does get brushed of the ball too easily.

As you say it looked like Jake Parsons was on a mission last night. I thought his work-rate and overall play last night was outstanding and certainly proved to me what a good player he is.

Obviously Ollie Burgess is no mug at our level. You only have to look at his record and the teams he's played for.He is a good footballer. My problem is that he can be lightweight and ineffective against teams that close down quickly and are hardworking like North Greenford. He is much better getting forward when he has time and space. He just doesn't like tackling or tracking back.

That is fine in certain games. He is worth a place in the team at times and is skilful and knows how to score. He actually seems to play better against classy opposition.Perhaps he gets more time on the ball.

The problem for me, in some of the winter games when the pitches are heavy,we could do with a bit of steel in the team rather than a side with too many flair players who aren't prepared to get stuck in.

IMO last night I would have opted for Sean Fraser in midfield at the expense of Ollie given that Dave Deeney was missing.
