Injuries is an easy way out for refs. From what's read on here both sides are saying there was no problem therefore there wouldn't be a conversation about an injury. There was a player seriously injured at Uxbridge after 6 minutes there's no talk about the pitch playing a part there and that survived an inspection.

I find it hard to believe there was an inspection at Uxbridge as the pitch looked in superb condition.

Haha, Personally didn't think it was late and thought I had won the ball. It was there to be won.

Another one to disagree on. I thought you missed it and got the player :) I wonder if that had happened later in the game if you would have got cautioned :) Felt for your keeper when he got done after the goal.

What has happened to Sandhurst last couple seasons? High flying and winning the cup a couple seasons back and since then been a downward spiral using more players than QPR! Don't wanna point the finger (and I don't really have a right to as I'm a first time poster on this forum) but isn't it down to management? Why do players keep coming and going? They had a great bunch down there and I know it's hard when a manager moves on and takes most of them with, but still.

Interesting reading that the Camberley v South Park ref tried to let the game flow. We had the complete opposite on Saturday.

In the dictionary, under "fussy" and under "pedantic" you'll find a picture of our referee. He could not stop blowing his whistle. Anyone who has seen Horley or Epsom will know that they like to play a bit of football, yet every time two players got together the ref decided to stop the play.

This of course had a knock-on effect because both sets of players then understandably appealed twice as much as they usually would. The strangest thing was that despite blowing constantly, he missed all three of the bad fouls in the first half, one from their guy who fractured our player's cheek bone, one from one of our players who stamped "not my words, people in the stand with a better angle" on one of theirs, and a late foul on one of our players just before HT when he cleared the ball for a corner and was sent flying for his troubles.

It was the sort of performance that had you wondering where the assessor was sitting. It also made for a niggly and bitty first half with a great goal for us and a deserved equaliser for them moments later. The second half could have gone wrong at the start but our keeper produced a fantastic save and we were on top from then on. One of our best players hadn't started due to a bit of flu but when he came on midway through the game we took control, scored a third goal with 18 left and everyone knew it was game over.

Our final goal summed up the official's performance though. There was dissent everywhere from the Horley players who had just had a player sent off for his second yellow card for dissent, yet despite being off and over the fence the referee wanted him to wander about thirty yards down the touchline before restarting play. We got a penalty moments later and although the keeper was quite clear that he had made no contact, our player tried and just managed to stay on his feet but was wide by then so the ref gave it. Interestingly though last year at Horley our keeper was sent off for a last man challenge. Consistency?

In summary, I was very impressed by our resiliency as Horley matched us in the first half but living with us over the full 90 minutes is difficult right now. We kept going and found a way to score as we seem to do. 4-1 was harsh on them, but I don't think they deserved a point on the second half performance. Also after about 15-20 years of watching Ian Chatfield constantly deny us in goal for various sides, he actually made a mistake this week, which led to our second goal. About time he made one against us!

Agree the referee was poor for both sides and made trouble for himself two teams wanting and can play football if left but his silly blowing of the whistle every time ruined the game.

Are you suggesting Team management (Manager) or Club management (Chairman) as the cause TPC? I think it stems back to when they failed to take up NICE GUY's offer of defensive coaching mid way through last season ;)

Probably leaning towards the manager as the chairman's a nice bloke and was there when the club was doing better. Again, I'll be careful with what I say but my opinion isn't great of his man management skills, berates anyone if he isn't happy whether it be the ref, lino, his own players or opposition.

Then isn't it the Chairmans job to sort - the qualities you mention aren't easily hidden??

Perhaps you're right Green_Fingers. Not sure what contacts he has but I'm sure any available managers would take up the post if it became available at Sandhurst. I understand it's hard for the current manager to find players from scratch when a whole team has left, but recent times are worrying.

Btw would just like to say I think TRS' footage and editing is quality. Great advert for the league.

El Gaff talking of Banstead. Their game was postponed on Saturday, one of a few. Having visited Banstead on a few occasions, albeit everytime being freezing cold and windy ! The pitch normally looks decent being high up, so t wonder from your experience where abouts on the pitch it gets so bad to call the game off Saturday ?

Also El Gaff whats your taking on the demise of Banstead and why in your honest opinion? They finished bottom of the CCL Prem last season so subsequently relegated to CCL Div 1 where now they are fighting another relegation battle which for a decent club with good football and club facilities would be a complete disaster for them having Back-to-Back relegation into Step 7.

What was all the talk I heard when I last visited about 3G pitches, any idea if they have they.will materiaised - perhaps any Banstead forumite can off their opinion as well?

Am I right also in hearing the rumour that Banstead manager has been sacked ?

Not sure anyone will be relegated from CCL1 this year because of lack of numbers.

El-Gaffer has already mentioned that Andy is no longer the manager, not sure if he was sacked or if he walked.

And as I think you know, the 3G pitches were part of a planned hook-up with Glasgow Rangers which needless to say, never happened.

This might help you slightly Bad Guy - http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/bansteadathleticfc/

I'm sure when you pop down there next they will be able to answer any questions you have!

Best of luck to the new guys and best wishes to Andy

I walked but for entirely personal (non-football) reasons to do with illness in my family since mid-November. It had a massive impact on my ability to be present at the club, and although we had a decent start my lack of time had in the last few months started to create problems and results started to reflect that. I therefore introduced Danny to the club and he's brought in his own team and I think will do very well.

I have to say that I have nothing but praise for the people there who have been very supportive in whats been a difficult time and work tremendously hard. I hope to be involved in some capacity either at Banstead or elsewhere next season, not least as it will mean my wife has recovered!

Thanks for the best wishes and look forward to crossing swords again with various of you at some point in the near future!

If anything, CCL1 and the Wessex 1st Division need 'fattening up' with more clubs.

Am I right in thinking that only the Northern League Division 2 has a full contingent of 24 clubs at Step 6?

A good job Banstead Athletic didn't get involved with Craig Whyte, after the revelations about him!

There's no requirement for 24 teams. The FA now just likes leagues to be minimum of 20 and that's why I doubt the CCL1 will relegate anyone this time round. I think 20 is perfectly okay at this level. As we've found out this season, it's not easy to fit in 42 games!

My thoughts exactly, and given the recent weather fitting 42 games in may be nothing short of a miracle in the future!
