The Mayor Of Simpleton
http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/vote/top-albums/ A few of the usual suspects in here - Queen's 'A Night At The Opera', Dire Straits 'Brothers In Arms' - and also a few albums I wouldn't have expected (Adele for one - she's good, yes, but on the same level as Queen and co?) I'm glad that ELO's 'Out Of The Blue' has been mentioned, as that album is one of the most overlooked in music IMHO, but no albums by Status Quo, Black Sabbath, Iron Maiden? Also, I find it shocking that Def Leppard's 'Hysteria' does not make the list as it's not only one of the most popular and recognisable rock albums ever. Which is your Most Played/Favourite album (or albums) from the link provided? My favourite (and the one I voted for) is Queen's 'A Night At The Opera'. A brilliant album housing possibly the best song ever penned (Mama...just killed a man...).
Rhodes
Rumours by Fleetwood Mac must be right up there
Sir Rebel1965
Have to agree about how Status Quo have been missed but "Marron 5" have made the list? The Quo are always having the pee taken out of them for the inacurate "only 3 chords" statement - but will Marron 5 be around in 40 years?
missunderstood
Cant believe there's no Neil Sedaka, Nat King Cole or Sam Cook. Best album on the list for me was Pet Sounds by the Beach Boys.
The Mayor Of Simpleton
Pet Sounds is a cracking album, as is Rumours. I might watch Fleetwood Mac when they tour - even if it is without Christine McVie.
Horace
What's an "album" ? Is it some sort of LP? My first LP is actually on that shortlist - The Chirping Crickets ! (Buddy Holly)
Loose
Actually own 32 of those on the list. Dark Side of the Moon would be my most played.

Not a lot of heavy metal usually played on Radio Two "We have selected albums whose singles/tracks are played by Radio 2 regularly"
The Mayor Of Simpleton
True, but Def Leppard get played quite regularly on Radio 2 so it did make me wonder.

The Mayor Of Simpleton
In a roundabout way, that's a good compliment for Loose. Owning 32 of those records means that Loose has great taste in music.

I don't know that Adam but at times they've been wide, weird and wonderful. LPs were a wonderful thing, art work, sleeve notes, lyrics (sometimes) but a physical thing which even if digitalised music is clearer LP's had a purity and clarity, you could put your whole mind into listening to them. The trouble with technology is that you try to replace them with every new media - CD - Digital - and yet none of them compare to dropping the needle on the first track. You know you're old when Radio 2 plays your favourite music but at least what music then does for you is transport you back using your memories to what you feel in many ways were happier times.
