We're also hearing that our game at Sandhurst is in doubt as they tweeted a picture of their pitch yesterday and said the only reason it wasn't off yet was because they couldn't call it off the day before the game.

Yet I read here that South Park managed to cancel yesterday so now I'm not sure what the official rule is!

Either way, it looked from the picture as though tonight was a non-starter but it's meant to be dry today so we'll see.

Let me clarify. The rules are very clear that matches can only be postponed on the day, following an inspection either by the match referee or a local referee if the match referee is unable to inspect himself. However, this procedure can be varied if the League decides that the weather is so bad that there is no realistic chance of playing.

In the case of this evening's matches I received various calls yesterday from home clubs, stating that they had no chance of playing this evening. Whilst there was no blanket call off, I authorised those clubs to consult with their match referees and if the referee agreed to accept the club's word, the matches could be postponed today (Tuesday). This was done to avoid the hassle of midweek inspections and all the problems they cause for clubs, when there is clearly no prospect of play. There was obviously some confusion in the conversation between South Park and myself, which may have been my fault, and they announced the postponement prematurely.

Maybe I should learn from this and in future we will stick to the rules more rigidly.

This season alot has been learnt and I thnk you have had a very tough job this season regarding fixtures I'd expect that you will get more fixtures in early next season Guernsey have been easy targets but in truth it has been an horrendous winter. Regarding postponements the day before I think with the weather we have had if you can canx early and arrange a couple days later then this should be granted as its going to be tough getting the fixtures in

I think the league are to be applauded for being flexible esp where it enables the games to be rearranged at short notice for 48 hours later.

I think Lazarus does a sterling job, has been a horrendous season weather wise and it seems every effort is made to try and get these games played.
