Thought Slough weathered all that AFC Hayes threw at them and were worth the win. Also thought Dave Deeney, Jake Parsons and Ed Smith were the stand out Slough players, although most of the team performed well today.

One thing I did think was mystifying was why Steve Bateman chose to take off Ed Smith for Ryan O'Toole, when Danny Burnell was clearly not at his best and should have been the player to make way.No wonder Ed was shaking his head in disbelief.

Not the greatest performance but 3 points against a team that's been a thorn in our side recently.

MOTM Deeney by a mile, he's getting better as the season goes on and I couldn't care less what he has to say on Twitter if he keeps doing the business on the pitch.

A win is a win, I'm happy with the way we played after a slow start. We have a tendancy to panic and rush when things aren't going our way, but I thought we dealt with going behind well and controlled the game for the most part after the first 15-20mins.

Certainly a long way to go and we will need some performances like that at times to grind out results over the next few months.

COYR!

Hotspur, clearly we have an uphill struggle with a backlog of fixtures and an automatic promotion spot may be beyond us, but the play-offs are still viable. Anything can happen until it is mathematically impossible. Until then, the players need every supporters' support. Momentum and positivity can go a long way.

The plain and simple - and truly sad - fact is that you have given up and bizarrely appear to be holding this up as something virtuous, gloating over the "stupidity" of other fans not abandoning their club. You come across as someone truly unpleasant to be around.

You have not been following the posts very well have you.Because you would know that i have a bet that we win the league-its true i also have a bet that we dont get promotion with ian ( where has he gone-saving up i hope ) its not disloyal its known as covering your bets..Having been a supporter for almost 50 yrs, i feel i have the right to judge the team as i see fit-i never look at them with rose tinted glasses or a sense of disillutionment-and so i feel they wont make it this year-but that saddens me not pleases me.

The way you post certainly does not suggest you are saddened by Slough's chances of promotion being damaged. You come on gloating about every defeat and you seem genuinely happy when they lose.

I never understand football fans who love nothing more than complaining about the team they support and even go as far as basically insulting people for having faith in their team. Seems a waste of time to make your hobby something that makes you so miserable but each to their own.

There's plenty of supporters at Slough games who love to moan. There's always a moaner and groaner nearby.Currently I have two that stand near me.

Some people seem to get immense pleasure out of moaning at players and if not the players, the officials. You'll find that at all games up and down the country.

I prefer to moan on this forum than at games and I guess Hotspur does.Though he may be one of those game whingers, who knows ?!

However, what ever anyone's feelings are towards Hotspur, you can't argue that he's entitled to his opinion/view, like all Slough Town fans are.

It doesn't matter whether you've been supporting STFC for 50 years or 50 minutes.

I agree with him, that we have a mountain to climb to even make the play-offs,let alone be champions.

Hotspur, has stuck his neck out to predict before the games have been played that he doubts Steve Bateman, and his squad will achieve promotion this season. He is not alone in this view.

I believe we can do it but we're going to need a lot luck and every squad member and all the management pulling in the same direction. That's a tall order by any stroke of the imagination. I for one hope they do achieve success, but even the biggest optimist would be mad to wager on it now especially with us losing NBH from the heart of the defence. That would be a huge loss for any manager to cope with.

I think I'm a realist and am getting ready for another season in this division ! ! :(

Yes, there are plenty of moaners at all clubs. Assuming hotspur is actually a Slough Town fan and not just a troll (we have no idea who he is), then yes he is entitled to his opinion. I don't think anyone has said he isn't.

It's totally fair to say that you think it will be difficult for Slough to make the playoffs; that's just expressing an opinion. Just like some people might believe Slough will make it.

The difference is that hotpsur appears to take a huge amount of pleasure from Slough losing just so he can come on here and say "told you so". If all you do is post negatively then it's inevitable that Slough will lose some games and you'll be able to come on and post "I was right, we have no chance of even making the playoffs".

What I object to is posters who only seem to come on the forum to criticise other members for the audacity of having some belief in their team. Again, there is nothing wrong with being negative but there's a huge difference between feeling negative about the team's chances and repeatedly posting the same thing and, basically, trolling, like hotspur does.

Of course, his trolling has worked as I'm posting on this thread and he has got his reaction so this will be my last post on the matter.

Good luck to Slough for the season and I hope they can finally win promotion.

Dave Deeney my MOTM closely followed by Jake Parsons, Kyle Anthony and Brownie.

Reading Rebel, I thought Alex Brown and Kyle Anthony played well enough together against AFC Hayes but don't see them as the solution to NBH leaving.

I would rather play Kyle Anthony in midfield long term. Wooz hopes to be back for Saturday's game.Think Brown, Wooz ,Anthony could plug the gap in the short term..Love to see a fit Simon Sweeney back.He would shore up the defence more than Ashley Deeney or Sean Fraser can do and we have the option of using him as a centre half.Let's hope the talk on Twitter is true [not the Dave Deeney one!].
