Whos Your Teams Local Rivals ?

Recommended Posts

Historically at Tring it was always Pitstone, Aylesbury Vale & Leverstock Green.

We only ever played Tring Town a few times but none of their players were local so it wasn't quite the same and limited to county cups. We had a couple of giant killing cup upsets against Berko were a couple of leagues above as were Aylesbury United but they were in the Bucks county competitions. I don't remember facing them until they dropped into the SSML.

The Berko rivalry has ramped up in recent years with Viponds move across from Levy and that rivalry appears much friendlier.

Aylesbury Vale can only have been a short lived one as they were Haywood and Stocklake before that so i guess it can only have been for a couple of seasons while you were both in Prem. What about Chesham and Hemel are close but have always played higher what about Chalfont, Beaconsfield and Amersham? Eaton Bray used to have a great side I bet Tring had some rivalry with them

We would have start playing them as Haywood Utd in 2001/2 when they came up to what was then the Senior Division and then we were both promoted to the Premier in the same season. No real rivalry with any of the others, we've played Hemel a few times in county cups. I haven't been around the last couple of seasons but I would guess some kind of rivalry would be growing between us & the 2 Dunstable clubs. I don't think we've ever played Eton Bray or certainly don't remember it in the last 20 years

Talking of Buckingham Town...where are they now? Dad said they used to be a big club with a 'lovely little ground'

and Savagebee- the nawell/oxhey derby will be even better this year- huge game

To be honest Buckingham Town are a shambles. The new manager must be stark raving bonkers to get mixed up with the current bunch of people running the show down there. Athletic and Winslow are far better and more friendly clubs. Unless some decent people get involved quickly I think their existence is still very much in doubt.

WB/Gabble Ratchet- sad to hear about Buckingham Town, hope they get sorted out soon.

MonkeyMonkey- it does seem that way doesn't it!? No, I have nothing against st. Mags or their staff/coaches. I understand football is a passionate and frustrating- Lee Judges is just passionate and frustrated! It's characters like him that make non league football!

If you were at the game MM8 you can hardly deny Lee was quiet!!

Buckingham Town was always the one back in the day

Winslow Boy - What do you mean back in the day, you seem to have conveniently forgotten 22 October 2011

A very vocal manager to say the least but also a very good one.

Well as I said back in the day the teams were rivals

A nice body swerve, George Best style when he avoided that Chopper Harris tackle, but I'm talking about last season's controversial FA Vase tie

yes, hope St Mags can keep hold of him- good for the SSML

Fingers crossed but I fear the worst! A great season so far with zero budget....so I'm told.

Well I'm talking about the thread and the rivalry the two sides had certainly in the 80's.

Karen - That's when it was football though with characters like George Best and Chopper Harris unlike your Tevez's, Ballotelli's and Adebayor's

I haven't forgotten your ability to copy and paste from a forum who's members are as pathetic ill informed and as untrustworthy as you in order to satisy your need for a bite. Once again I leave it up to the members to draw their own conclusions. No bite here. You must try harder, sorry to disappoint

Historically, it's been Wycombe, Chesham and Slough as the 'big 3' local rivals, but these days in the Spartan League we've had some good battles with Berko of late and Tring always seems to draw a big crowd both home and away. Aylesbury FC obviously our biggest local rivals although we've never played them, except for a couple of PSFs against previous guises Haywood United/Aylesbury Vale
