Terry Smith started 25 games for us and scored 8 goals he is a decent player who never stops running. He lives in Oxhey.

and linesman wearing a woolly hat

Was it Mr Reeder or Mr Watkins, I can't remember ever seeing that before in semi-pro and professional football

Okay so having read our match report and the OXhey match report, my thoughts were wrong and it was 3 quick early goals! We seriously need to avoid that happening, 2 early goals against Harefield, Hanwell and 3 against Oxhey isn't really a good way of starting. Look at our result against St Margs, stayed in the game and managed to secure a win. We need more of that desire.

Congratulations to Broxbourne Borough on getting through to final. Great result beating Codicote. Would of loved to have seen The Cod get through to.

Well done to Geoff and Sugs who have basically built a side from scratch at short notice following the problems of last summer.

A Groundhopper's View

SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE PREMIER- LONDON TIGERS 0 HANWELL TOWN 1

Attendance-32 (and a half) Admission-£5 (allegedly) Programme-£1 Refreshments-tea/coffee/crisps/chocolate

Arguably the worst Step 5 ground in the world.; cover at both ends, one with bench seating, hard standing on the far side and railed off on 3 sides-all very run down and untidy. With Villan at the helm and Zuludave as navigator (!!) the 100 mile journey straight down the M5, M42, M40, A40 was trouble free. Arriving around 1.45 we picked up the programmes and made the 20 minute (3 miles) journey for our pre-match refreshments at The Castle (Fullers) in Harrow-on-the Hill. On returning to the ground we dodged the obvious puddles and debris to watch the first half from the A40 side. Equal bottom Tigers made a decent fist of it and only went in a goal down at the interval. The second half was poor with Hanwell unable to add to their solitary goal. The game got a tad fractious towards the end and the referee saw sense and blew right on time.. The second half was spent in the good company of a hopper from Aylesbury who called in after his Middlesex County League game at British Airways. Strangely enough no-one was at hand to charge the admission money displayed and no effort was made to check that anyone had. Post match we spent a happy hour (and more) in the White Horse at Hedgerley where the roaring fire was most welcome (first visit for 2 years)

The so called groundhopper is obviously not aware that the ground is widely known as 'the hidden gem'

Yeah I mean how can he have got his OWN opinion wrong eh Rhodes? And also not be aware of the titles you give to places and people and then expect everyone to accept that as the way it is?! Exhausting

Attendance: 182 Ampthill Town 1 - 2 HUFC Referee:

Assistant :

Assistant :

Man of the Match : Darren Moyes

Match Sponsor :

Ball Sponsor : F.A.Vase / 5th Round (last 16)-match

Goalscorers None None. Opening squads Substitutes Substitutions None None. Yellow cards None None. Red cards None None. Match report

Following on from last week’s win in Yorkshire, the club’s travelling fans were again out in force as Hadleigh tried to reach the last eight of the FA Vase with a trip to Ampthill Town FC. If successful it would be a club record beating the last 16 place gained by Alan Dilloway’s in 1995.

For this latest match Hadleigh were without striker Scott Chaplin with a hamstring problem sustained last week. Liam Jennings was unwell so James Evans and Danny Bloomfield were in the starting line up while Ollie Brown and Matt Downing returned to the squad.

Hadleigh made a great start with a goal after 14 minutes after a free kick was awarded wide on the right. James Evans took aim and delivered a perfect shot which crept in at the far post with no one else getting a touch.

Ampthill forced two corners in quick succession, the second of which saw Dave Murphy glance a header wide. At the other end Lee McGlone was limping badly following a collision with keeper Tom Lennard and McGlone was replaced by Chris McLaughlin. Ollie Canfer was also in the wars but carried on until the interval .

Ampthill were providing strong opposition and Darren Moyes made a safe catch to prevent an equaliser in the closing stages of the first half.

Matt Downing replaced the injured Canfer at half time and Hadleigh were rocked by a spectacular equaliser after 49 minutes. A cross was delivered from the right and Gary Ridgeway gave Moyes no chance with a powerful shot. The keeper did manage to get his fingertips to the shot but was beaten by power.

This lifted the home side and Moyes made a great save from Christian Lester for a corner after 55 minutes. But it was Hadleigh who regrouped and scored the vital goal after 65 minutes as a pile driver from Matt Downing hit a home defender in the goalmouth the ball flew high into the air with Marcus Josiah judging his jump perfectly to head past keeper Lennard as the ball came down.

Another effort from Josiah was kept out by Lennard’s trailing leg while Downing volleyed too high. Moyes then made a couple of great saves at the other end as the home side threw everything at the Hadleigh defence in what were 15 very long minutes plus 4 minutes of injury time for the Hadleigh faithful to endure, but Hadleigh’s superb defence held out and so the Club march proudly into the quarter finals.

Don't normally post on here, however the Risboro v Corries game was very entertaining, especially given the conditions. Obviously, bitterly disappointed to lose in extra time, however Risboro probably shaded it and being able to bring a player with Ben Williams quality on in extra time made a big difference.

Twice we have been in winning positions against Risboro this season and twice let it slip.... and I'm still to win at Risboro!

The referee did the right thing playing the game and tried to play advantaged on a number of occasions.....always good to see. Players also played the conditions well and played sensibly.....credit to both sides.

Shockingly, I can't remember who wore 11 on Saturday, either Ryan or Aaron I think... but I will pass on the comments, I know they will be appreciated.

We go again this week, the weather has really hit us this season, every time we have got some momentum going, we have then lost fixtures. The most frustrating season I think I can remember.

Good luck to Risboro in the next round, good to see so many people there watching too....

any news on whether Risboro will get floodlights and maybe progree up to division 1?

Sorry cannot confirm one way or the other, but if Risborough did get lights they would probably need to finish above Broxbourne, which is looking unlikely on Broxbourne's current form, unless the League allowed 2 clubs to go up?
