VPCTFC
It's that time of year again. The usual rumours about teams joining and/or leaving the CCL so here's one from the Stockbridge FC website: "We hear Fleet Spurs are leaving Wessex Division 1 at the end of the season" http://stockbridgefc...ews-and-gossip/ Where are they going? Down to the Hampshire League? Across to the Hellenic? Across to the CCL? I'm sure there are people on this forum that know people at Spurs.... As an aside, it's a fact that Old Farnboronians have applied for promotion from the Surrey Elite. The FA have announced that. **edit** I forgot to put a question mark after the thread title. Makes it look like it's a fact now. It isn't. I don't know how to edit it.
Krooner
Ha Ha. this has to be the most played out one going on this forum. "How many times do you need to say a lie before it becomes the truth ?"
Mark-Tommo
Think Fleet Spurs should play in the CCL to be honest. Great club, great setup.
The Mayor Of Simpleton
Will there even be a Wessex D1 next season? Fleet leaving would reduce it to 15. Unless Locks Heath go up from Hampshire Premier (they have floodlights) and a few more are cherry-picked (Aldermaston/Kintbury) then it is going to become a significantly weakened league. I hope that Brading Town return to the Wessex D1 - been there once whilst on holiday in the Isle of Wight, A very friendly club indeed!

VPCTFC
Ha Ha. this has to be the most played out one going on this forum. That's what I thought when I first read it. Redhill moving across is the other one although I think they've denied ever contemplating switching across. I wouldn't normally mention it but it was on another Wessex League club's website and they also mention the sides who've applied to join the league from below (Mortimer and Locks Heath). Both these are correct as they appear on the FA's list of applicants so it's not like they're just repeating rumours. There's no FA list for clubs wishing to switch leagues at the same level though and clubs have, I think, until March 31st to apply if they want to do it. We'll see. The Mayor Of Simpleton
A contact of mine in Witney has said that there will be an extra slot in the Hellenic next season (due to Witney and Carterton 'merging') and had unofficially heard that South Kilburn will be rejoining the Hellenic fold. VPCTFC
Confirmed in the Farnborough News this week that Fleet Spurs will be applying to join the CCL, if they haven't already. I haven't got a link as it's not on the GetHampshire website.
In The Know
Won't be Fleet Spurs or indeed the Combined Counties decision as to who moves across leagues etc. I speak from experience when we were transferred across from the Hellenic League to the Combined Counties League. We swapped places with Reading Town and the decision was made by the National Leagues Committee and Mike Appleby. It would be nice to see Fleet Spurs come across and will watch the situation closely but I am sure like all things that the FA are involved in, their will be twists and turns. VPCTFC
I know the FA decide now but I can't see them blocking the move. They've not got to the point of interfering with steps 5 and 6 yet and are still leaving it up to clubs to decide which league they want to play in. How long it stays like that is anyone's guess. It's said in the paper Spurs have a development grant and will be doing up their dressing rooms and boardroom.
The Mayor Of Simpleton
Thus further weakening the Wessex 1st Division...
VPCTFC
Dragging this old thread back up again. There was a blog written by someone who went to Fleet Spurs last week. No one's any the wiser. http://laurencereade.wordpress.com/tag/fleet-spurs/ "With financial facts of life stacked against you, a change is clearly necessary, but what that actually is isn’t known as yet. The club like would a sideways move to the Combined Counties, thereby reducing travelling costs, but a drop in status to the Hampshire League is possible, as is no move at all. It’s all down to the committees and darkened rooms of the FA to decide next month, or maybe the month after, the club simply doesn’t know. That can’t be easy for the players, not knowing even the level you’ll be playing next season."
ellers
I was told that Old Farnboronians may be folding at the end of the season due to finances, apparently it's to expensive to play at Cody Sports and if they go up witch they are capable of they will need to shell out more cash on linesman etc. I do hope it's not true, they have some very good players up top, one of the strikers is lightning quick. The Mayor Of Simpleton
South Kilburn could be going back to the Hellenic, and I did read somewhere that Wembley MIGHT be going to the SSML next season.
danielpjn
Cody is reasonably cheap, compared to most other local facilities. As an example it is more expensive to play at Frogmore and Frimley Lodge. Both of which are just basically a park pitch. Hope they can afford to progress to Senior football.
Lewprosser84
There is no basically about it those pitches are about as park pitch as a park pitch can get. How much is pitch hire there then?
danielpjn
We used to pay £85 a game
ellers
I was told they were paying £90 a game, then you would have that again in official fees. Expensive.
danielpjn
We hire the ground for youth and the odd first team game. Rates are £45 for youth and £70 for adult. We only hire the ground midweek,so it's probably more expensive at weekends. Hopefully they can come up with the finances to allow them to join the CCL. VPCTFC
Isn't this the reason Farnborough North End left Cody? Being the type of club it is I don't suppose they're too concerned about any particular football club putting down roots there and calling it their own. There's no way Cody S&SC would agree to a 25 year lease with anyone. *edit* Just found the social club's 2012 minutes online. They say QinetiQ withdrew their support in 2010 valued at around £80000 so they've had to change a lot. http://c3532309.myze...of-65th_AGM.pdf Also - "We have faced several interesting situations with the sections and users: Farnborough North End being unable to pay for their pitch use and abusing the club staff and Officers, which led to my suspending them and finally barring them from the club; consequently having to write of their debt of £1,740 The Cricket section was found not to exist and so had to be reformed after much arguing and finger pointing amongst that community The Tennis club refused to engage with us over the use of the courts until I changed the lock. They are still not very responsive and I doubt they will continue to exist for much longer The Netball users also have been difficult to engage with and are now considering moving elsewhere Many of the non sporting groups who use the function room or other facilities have been difficult over the changes to the club".
