Nothing new there then, been going on for Years.Where there are vast sums of money this will always happen.A dodgy Ref decision can save the bookies millions,or make them millions.Average televised game, over 10 million is waged on Betfair alone. How come it has taken them years to uncover misdemeanours?

A very good question there, Smudge.

Mention was made of a Singapore group betting on these games. I just wonder if one of the Singapore group was Peter Lim, who was mentioned in a documentary with Bryan Robson recently...

Totally agree, been saying it for years. Where there is big money involved there will always be corruption somewhere. It would be naive to think differently.

(Absolutely not suggesting it is rife.)

It's an international thing so needs the co-operation of loads of different agencies. They always take years to get anything done. The FA have been fining and suspending any players or officials they find betting on matches they're not allowed to for at least the past five years so it's not as if they're unaware of what's going on, even if doesn't involve match-fixing. I'm reminded of the Accrington player who got an eight month ban and £3500 fine for a £5 accumulator. One the players involved in that case had bet on his own side to win. He got a five month ban and £2000 fine. The FA looked into match-fixing but didn't charge anyone with it, presumably due to lack of evidence, but they changed the officials allocated to the match at the last minute just to make sure.

The problem is, these cases rely on the bookies reporting suspicious betting patterns before the game. William Hill and Betfair did that but I doubt you'll get a bookie from Singapore phoning the FA if someone suddenly puts £100,000 on Camberley to beat Guernsey, as a random example!

If someone put a £1000 on Camberley beating Guernsey, they would of sent for the White Coat Brigade, not informed the Authorities.Hang on they did beat Guernsey,1-0 was it not.Wonder if they doubled it up With Epsom and Ewell's 2-0 win.
