Sir Rebel1965
As its about half way through the season I thought I would have a look at attendances and see how they were doing. It looks like most clubs are 20% down on last year and that includes us. Also all the clubs we have played away so far have their highest gate when we visited. Last seasons numbers were up on the 2010/2011 season and that may be due to some bigger clubs - Hitchin and the St newts rent-a-crowd. If the atendance numbers remain this way I can see even more clubs running out of cash. It is so depressing going to places and seeing how few locals they attract - one of the most disturbing numbers is that Woodford only got 32 turn up for the game against Northwood. Is it the lack of cash around or is it to do with the football, or the number of games called off?
Rebel Kay
I don't think you can blame it on games being called off, as we noticed the lower numbers from the very start of the season. Initially we thought it was all the FA Cup/Trophy games that had to be paid for, or the Sundays. I genuinely think that money is tight for most people now and you have to be realistic about what is essential and what is a luxury. Unfortunately for many, football will be a luxury that will have to be missed sometimes or completely. More clubs will no doubt go to the wall as many must be struggling already. I think this is really sad, as the clubs mean so much to those involved..
Don Juan DeMarcus
Agreed. I would say the amount of away fans to us... And the amount we take places are down more than the "home" fans.... Mainly due to cost of travelling etc etc. I would guess out season ticket numbers are roughly the same as last year....
