GazzaBTFC
I was shown some tweets (or is that twits?) by some down the club yesterday, while we mused over ideas to increase the income streams into the club (in these dire times, income has to come from other forms of entertainment other than football). I was impressed that so many had an opinion of the issue of the condition of the pitch. Sadly some of these opinionated people were not to be seen at any public forum, meeting or in fact lending a hand to help out down the club... ... Disappointing that one if these so called supporters was an old friend of mine. Never mind... When those people can trouble themselves to have the courage to face those that they criticise instead of hide behind the growing and frankly cowardly faceless forum and twitter accounts they use to make their opinions known, I shall take it that their comments are made from a psition of ignorance and therefore should be ignored. As people know, I have no patience with the FA and the little wizards it employs to run the game because many things, the most important being accountability. I extend my contempt of this body to those that cannot have the courage if their opinions and make themselves accountable for them.
GazzaBTFC
One point to note... There are those that do make themselves known.. The above post does not extend to them... Those that use the various media forums AS WELL as public forums to effect change and enhance the clubs future and well being...
RobS
I have posted tweets in recent days which have complained about the club and the state of the pitch and would like to make some points in relation to the post by GazzaBTFC 1. I am a so called supporter. If holding a season ticket and supporting the club for over 30 years is "so called" so be it 2. When I am next at the club I am prepared to talk to anyone about my views thereby proving what a "coward" I am 3. I applaud GazzBTFC for all he has done for the club over many years but not all of us can give up time we do not have to help run the club. We show our support by attending matches, buying programmes, buying club merchandise, playing lucky 7's and buying 50/50 tickets. I apologise if this is not enough but I have a demanding job and other commitments that need to be attended to. 4. The club needs a reality check. The ground is in a poor state of repair due to lack of money not due to the efforts of a small group of supporters. 5 .If we want to continue to compete at this level and not look second best we need to admit our failings and be honest with regular and indeed casual supporters. 6. I think I have made myself known now and people can agree or disagree with me as is their right but I am no coward and will always stand by my views and offer an honest explanation. See you at the next home game
GazzaBTFC
I think we all know the fixtures and fittings need to be refreshed Rob, as our much lauded "friends" from our new City have mentioned but there are ways of excepting that these things cost money and in the financial climate we are in, will have to take their time. Of course we could've just take. The cash from the playing budget and invested in the fixtures but hey, our budget wasn't that big and if a club does that, then you get into the equation of sacrificing support because your success is a reflection of what is being displayed on the pitch. Oh and yes, we could rack up huge debts like some clubs in this league but we're not set up that way or wish to be. Huge debt will catch a club out eventually. Every week (when we get a game on) it's either knock the club (and manager from the sidelines) about the quality of play and players (the same players and manger that got us promoted) or comments about the state of the club. The club needs support, on and off the pitch. We have regular quiz nights, band nights, etc. all to raise the profile of the club and to "coin" in some much needed funds to ensure that the club gets these funds to help keep it going. Unfortunately, what doesn't help are continuous postponements by over fussy, health and safety (?) conscious officials. What really gets. My goat is that the posts on twitter were coming from an angle like the postponements were deliberate. Wasting people's good time (and money). They were not. The club, players, management, supporters and especially those who made the effort to get the pitch in some state o my to find that two officials decided to contradict themselves (let alone adhere to the rules in the FA hand book - the same rules they love to site when putting across a point they have made just to be bloody minded). What I really get annoyed about is that the twits the post on twitter don't have any consideration for those that DO care and DO work hard. It's not just the club they are knocking but those that do make the effort. So, maybe a little more consideration and a little less holier than now would be nice. As for those Eastbourne supporters? We actually felt for you making the journey but now, I hope we royally stuff you and send you home with your collective tails between your legs. We are a welcoming club but I hope our welcome when you next come down will reflect the lack of charity you gave us on the twit network.
RobS
I am not suggesting putting the club into debt and I know it is a balancing act budget wise but we have to be realistic that the ground is a shambles and that when it rains the game will be off. But how long will the Conference let that go on when we are the only ground in the division with a postponement. It is worrying. I have never knocked Craig Edwards he has done enormous amount for the club and knows far more than any of us about how to get results. As for "holier than thou" comment to mix metaphors for a moment "pot and kettle" perhaps.
missunderstood
I went to your place twice last season and thought the ground and club house was quite pleasant.

Ryan.c
Regards the pitch. Has it not been an exceptionally wet winter? What we need right now is as both a club and supporters to unite. Starting with a trip to the champions elect tomorrow night! We need to get there by the bucket load. Then if we want better facilities and a better pitch we need to raise some hard cash. The amount of money coming in and the amount of money needed to do the things people want don't add up. Mix in 4 home league games in 3 months (and counting) plus the ground grading requirements needed, you can see how difficult it is just to survive let alone have a playing surface like Wembley! I believe we can overcome all the challenges needed to stay at this level, but its going to take a greater level of participation from supporters to acheive it. The BTSA have a fundraising Quiz Night next Friday. We need you people there!
jl
Don't be stupid Ryan, it's not the wettest year in England since records began, the subsequent four inches of snow, one referee overruling another and the 7 hour downpour the day before the other game that have led to the postponements, it's clearly a lack of "proper care". The supporters will have to do better than the two grand that has been spent on the pitch each pre-season for the last couple of years because it's just not good enough. We have covering on all sides of the ground, are playing at the highest level we've ever played at and have won more in the last two seasons than we have in the previous "thirty" - It's a "shambles". Hopefully we are over the worst of it now, with a bit of respite things should dry out and we'll be ok for the rest of the season. On a separate note what a blistering line-up of gigs there is in March at New Lodge - The Scooter Club do, followed by signed band P45 and then The Scarlet Echo EP launch. New Lodge is a great venue for live music and it's great it's getting used. COYB!!
Delboybtfc
Well said Ryan at this time more than ever we need to pull together. The club is not in financial difficulties although with no match day income since ny day I am sure there is a problem with cash flow. But as was said on another thread we need to get some additional income to do things that desperately need doing. The way forward with this is for the supporters as a group to buy shares in the club in return for which an elected person will have a seat on the board and a say in representing the views of the Day to day supporter in how the club moves forward. To do this and raise the required money we need everybody to help. Suggestions range from one off payments from those who can afford it to monthly standing orders from those less well off. The aim is to raise £30000 and if successful to continue to buy shares in subsequent years. The club will then be even more a supporters club than it is now. If anyone would like to discuss this further why not come down the club on Thursday evening or if you can't make it I can be contacted on derek.collyer1@peugeot.com or on my mobile 0791483059. So come on stop bickering we all have the same aim to make btfc successful. The answer is for everybody to do something about it however small a contribution. rich the pipe
Got to agree with ryan and del boy we need to stick together and get behind the team, although del boys suggestion is logical and well thought out, I believe investment should come through all members, not just the people who are in a better financial position, I think the finance should come through the BTSA with finance coming through membership fees and fund raising to avoid a them and us situation amongst the supporters, obviously the board member should be elected through BTSA at a general meeting
The Town Crier
haha, great minds... just a note re the two g's on the pitch, that is mates rates from one of our sponsors (the Bursteedad golf club) for materials only. Burstead provide free of charge all the machinery and labour, so reality is its lot more than £2000's worth of work.
Rich.m
It's not nice having so many games called off and being down the bottom, but things will change. As previous people have said we need to stick together and add more people to the group of our fans that are happy to help out where needed with the club. Although I do feel that we can't force people to help, everyone has their own life's away from BTFC and there will be some of us that we want to be at the club everyone second trying to do our bit and there will be some of us who do their bit by paying the entrance fee on a match day. For the people that are able to give up their time and enjoy helping the club in anyway possible, we need to try and get people to join us. If not then so be it because they will still be there on a Saturday paying their money which is still all going into the club. Also our fans shouldn't be afraid to mention new ideas to Steve, Grant, the club or the BTSA. At the start of the season we introduced the matchday coaching package, it was an idea that came to mind one night, that has now turned into the BTSA bringing money into the club along with new families. If we could have a few more ideas before the end of the season that we could get up and running it would be brilliant. The worse you can get its a no....but at least you have tried! Side note please go and read the blog that's just been put on the official site
Delboybtfc
Riverdance I am sorry if my suggestion came as not using the btsa . That is the intention and to utilise membership fees, I only implied that some people could make a contribution in one go and others may need to spread their contribution. Either way if the proposal goes ahead whoever contributes however much they put in should not give anyone anymore influence. I.e. one man one vote. rich the pipe
Fair enough, I have no problem with individuals donating to this project as it can only benefit the club as a whole
RobS
I seemed to have ruffled a few feathers and got people a bit annoyed. But at least it has highlighted a few issues. You may not agree with me but we all have the best of interests for the club in mind. Mind you I did not expect such a savaging and it has reminded me why I have never posted anything before. I simply wanted to express the view of a loyal paying punter who can see things from a different angle to some who are very close to the club. Anyway Chelmo tonight so lets give their team a savaging instead. COME ON YOU BLUES!

Rick the Dick
I simply wanted to express the view of a loyal paying punter who can see things from a different angle to some who are very close to the club. For any enterprise to develop & grow it's important it listens to the views of it's target market. It may, on balance, decide to ignore them, or ignore some of them, but what it should never do is attack those providing them. They are a valuable insight into how the enterprise is perceived by those not directly involved and, as such, can highlight areas that need attention. Or, at the very least, highlight areas where there are misunderstandings & poor PR. The latest Chairmans Blog is a good, positive read & I'm glad it has been published, whatever prompted it. richards
Just another slant on the pitch issue. My second team that I occasionally watch is Harrogate Town. They spent a fortune relaying their pitch before the start of the season and it all went wrong, so because of the weather ( even wetter "oop north" than down here) they haven't been able to fulfill a home fixture since about October. Indeed because of pressure from the Blue Square League they are now having to arrange "home" fixtures at York City and Doncaster, probably for the remainder of the season. Imagine the impact on their finances ( good job they had an FA Cup run). So think yourselves lucky at least we have seen some football and hopefully service will be resumed shortly. And well done to Steve on his Chairmans Blog, calm, sensible and positive as ever. COYB
