Eastbourne 1 - 1 AFC Hornchurch

Recommended Posts

Slow off the blocks again in the first half, eastbourne had the better of it. Couldn't judge whether it was a pen or not from my angle. Second half much better, and I think we could easily have taken all three points although they did have a couple of good opportunities as well. Nice enough ground and clubhouse.

Thought we started better than of late and it wouldn't have been an injustice if we had taken all three points. Good to see improved performance all round. Also funny to listen to the saga louts at Eastbourne getting grumpy with Lewis Smith.

Lewis had a very good game but picked up yet another needless booking.

With such a small squad keeping our discipline is very important . Our subs bench looked very thread bare yesterday.

Any suspensions to the first team eleven will have a negative effect on our performance.

Having a look at the Eastbourne forum seems they were quite impressed with Lewis and Tam as you can see from the quote below: you can’t argue with that……

“Thought Boro were utterly useless going forward and despite being a gobby little """" the Hornchurch no 10 was a handful all afternoon always available, tying 3 or 4 Boro defenders in knots and always found a shot or another Hornchurch player. Together with the no 7 showed our woeful front two how it should be done. Lucky to come away with a point in my opinion.”

I agree that the final ball was missing on a few occasions on Saturday.

Expecting a tough game against Sutton, I think their position in the league is false but we do seem to do okay against them at home (we seem to struggle away against them).

Really need to get behind the team on this one.

Trouble is that at home we are beside the team

After our second half showing at Eastbourne think we should widen our pitch, sod the running track.. Except for that patch they have in one corner which looked like the Somme.
