Jim Bean

Recommended Posts

Jim is currently in hospital and probably will be there for at least a week.

Please make sure whoever phones in your results is aware of the following;

Procedure for phoning in results Saturday 2nd Feb, Tuesday 5th Feb, Wed 6th Feb & Thurs 7th Feb

For games in the Premier and Division One and Cup games

Phone, text or email Elaine Waumsley

Phone 01992 302110

Text 07957 164953

Email elainewaumsley@ntlworld.com

For games in Division Two and Reserve divisions

Phone, text or email Karen Browne

Phone 01759 305144

Text 07876 232670

Email kazzie.browne@gmail.com

Format for any of these is

Home team name, home team score, away team name, away team score, your name

For texts please keep it simple -

Eg Ampthill 7 Enfield 0 Eric

or Fril 0 P&I 2 Stuart

No scorers or attendances required, but until further notice please copy elainewaumsley@ntlworld.com in on result sheet emails currently sent to Jim and Tony so I can get the scorers and attendances to put on Mitoo. Do not send emails to Jim.

For postponements please let Elaine know as well as Mick and Eric.

Please note that neither Karen nor I have Jim Bean style answer phones so if phoning land lines and it is engaged keep trying. We must be informed of the results in the same timescale as you would let Jim know.

A results email will be sent out, but not a Jim type bulletin. For tables, fixtures and appointments please see Mitoo http://www.football.mitoo.co.uk/News.cfm?LeagueCode=SMID2012&NB=0 – any help required in navigating the site please contact Elaine.

Oh and KB, the Ampthill 7-0 Enfield, hope you saw that in the tea leaves :)

These days I have moved into the 21st Century and use tea-bags, but if I did consult the leaves then I'm sure they will be predicting a Ampthill win

Trying not to be disrespectful as I have no idea what Jim's ailment is, any idea when he'll be returning? I'm thankful for the hard work his deputies are putting in, but really miss his matchday bulletins - especially with times of goals... To think I used to grumble at how late they were sent out on a Saturday night!

Apologies Greenduck.

As Elaine stated on an earlier bulletin neither herself or I have Jim Bean style answer phones (in fact I do not have an answer-phone) so if phoning land lines and it is engaged keep trying.

The only goal times I get are those that clubs post on their Twitter accounts which I copy and post on this forum.

4.9. It was reported that Jim Bean would be detained in hospital for longer than had been anticipated. Clubs are asked to watch the Noticeboard for developments. Thanks were expressed to Elaine Waumsley and Karen Browne who had agreed to jointly carry on with the Results and Press portfolio for the rest of the season. When away, Karen Browne would cover for Elaine. The League Chairman, Pat Burns, had taken on the registrations role on a temporary basis and Martyn Mitchell would assist by recording the player appearances.

Committee Vacancy – Results and Communications

Although Jim Bean's health is improving slowly he remains in hospital and will not be returning to his post as Results and Press Officer next season.

Applicants who would like to be considered for this position should apply to Chairman Pat Burns

What does it involve?

The main thing is receiving all the results from clubs and sending them out to everyone. On a Saturday the results have to go the press by 5.30 pm, then the bulletin is sent out to everyone that evening with complete results (preferably with scorers, goal times and attendances) and the next 10 days fixtures, tables and noticeboard.

You also have to send out other items - minutes, newsletters, appointments etc.

But you won't be supporting a SSML team next season! ^_^

Haha yeah that's the dream! :P

No way I could get all the results collaborated and published by 5.30 on a Saturday which rules me out anyway

I suspect this is a job for a "stay at home" type rather than a match attendee.

Stay at home type of person you say.

Rhodes, you seem to meet the criteria.

Whadda say?

This does sound like the sort of thing Rhodesy would be perfect for. Since he doesn't waste any time going to games.
