I would guess we will be unlikely to play at Merland Rise this weekend based on the weather (although could be wrong). To be honest, I was wearing four layers at Banstead in August. This time of year I'd advise dressing up as if on an arctic expedition ...

Drove all the way a couple of years ago only to find it called off but the pitch was Ok when we got there!

Drove all the way a couple of years ago only to find it called off but the pitch was Ok when we got there!

 

We played there on 10th November following 2 days of very heavy rain.

Pitch was wet but perfectly playable.

Even the Guernsey webcam is waterlogged now?

 

 

 

Banstead is very high up on the downs and has its own micro climate compared to Epsom Town Centre. However, it is much warmer there since the ground was improved in the nineties, so imagine what it was like before that.

Coldest place for football I've ever known any time of the year!!

 

It used to have a rival in the Feltham Arena. That was also disgracefully cold no matter when you went !!
