RalphC
They set up cameras, and were parked virtually 24/7 outside a house, yet a family still suffered racial abuse and have been forced to move. In this time, they arrested one person a 13 year old boy, who they released without charge! Is this what we can expect from the police force now? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-nottinghamshire-21265496 Whatever the crimes involved, why could they not catch the people responsible? Makes you wonder as to how they ever manage to catch any criminals!
missunderstood
Morale is apparently now at an all time low thanks to wage freezes and other cuts, but by and large I still think they do a good job, although there is still massive room for improvement. The Mayor Of Simpleton
Sickening attacks, but when you have a Legal System which is soft on criminals what do you expect. It reminds me a bit of what happened in Barwell with a Mum and her disabled girl being attacked by scum. The police did nothing then, as I recall. However, is it a case of red tape and bureaucracy which is stopping the police from doing their jobs? If an officer doesn't say 'I am arresting you on suspicion of x, you don't have top say anything but anything you do say may harm your defence in court' when nicking somebody then the case is thrown out of court. Surely it should be okay for a PC to say 'back of the van, you're nicked!' Years ago, the police could do their jobs without meddling from the politically correct twits. Nowadays, they have so many hoops to jump through, it is almost impossible for them to do their jobs and get a conviction without the CPS winding their necks in and giving the criminals a cushy sentence. Let's bring proper policing back, and allow them to clip wrongdoer's around the ears!

Let's bring proper policing back, and allow them to clip wrongdoer's around the ears! The CPS don't give anyone a sentence, cushy or otherwise. Their function is to decide whether its in the taxpayers interest to proceed with court action. Not sure if bureaucracy, political correctness and red tape are the main reasons for perceived police inefficiency, probably more to do with being undermanned and underfunded IMO. Dont think giving criminals a clip round the ear (police brutality) is the way forward either, bit I do support a much stiffer sentencing regime. The Mayor Of Simpleton
I agree, Alan, the punishment has to fit the crime. If the police are free to police, and not be snowed under with admin work when arresting a crook, that would be a good thing as well.

Agree. Also cut backs will not make any public service better. The Goverment are to blame.
RalphC
Not sure the government is to blame. People always blame whoever is in power. This has been going on much longer than the present government has been in power. So if you are going to blame politicians then you had better start with Labour! Either way it is the failure of the police officers themselves, some of whom appear not to be up to the job.

This useless coalition government have been in power for almost three years, which is more than enough time to make improvement's, instead though things have got worse so of coarse we can blame them, but certainly not the Labour Party. The Mayor Of Simpleton
Not forgetting that Labour emptied the coffers before exiting stage left of course...
missunderstood
Not forgetting that Labour emptied the coffers before exiting stage left of course... UK borrowing has almost doubled since 2010, the coffers are even more empty now thanks to the useless coalition.
