It's just that 99.9% of Coaches at our level give personal reasons as a lame excuse to leave a Club when they are just disillusioned and fed up.

That's because in 99.9% of the time it's true. When you manage at this level, you have to give it 100% commitment. It certainly isn't about just turning up for a match on a Saturday & Tuesday night. So when you put so much time & effort into a job (albeit voluntary) there are other areas of your life that get forgotten about.

Steve - So why do Coaches need to lie about it then, why not simply give that reason when they walk out of the door leaving a Club in the lurch.

Oh fecking do one you sad to$$er. Who's lying & what business is it of yours ? If a Manager gives up for personal reasons, why does the whole world or in this case just you, need to know the full details.

Rhodes,

Imagine for a moment that I am the chairman of a football club, and I've taken you on as manager of the team.

Halfway during the season, I

a) have cash-flow problems with my business and can no longer afford to pump money into the club

OR

B) decide that I want out for whatever reason

You are then left with no money, as I have cut off the funding. Would you think 'sod it, I've had promises broken so I'm off' or 'I'm going to see this through and get a team together for nothing.'

What would your honest answer be?
