Best Grounds and Hospitality

Recommended Posts

Being a SSML newcomer and only being fortunate enough to go to a handful of grounds, I was wondering what people feel is the best ground in each division? I'd also be interested to hear players and officials opinions i.e. changing facilities etc.

I was impressed with Ampthill yesterday, driven past it so often before and never noticed it...heaps of character.

I like Stotfold's Roker Park too.

Who is the most hospitable also? The winner may just be the next ground for me to visit!! :)

We Hanwell Town FC are a very hospitable club if i do say so myself.

Always enjoy my visits to Oxhey Jets FC also i found Hadley FC to be a very hospitable club this season.

Note i havent been to every away ground in the SSML Premier Division.

Also Hillingdon Borough FC is a good old skool ground (Apart from the club house) its well worth a visit if you havent been there before.

I was also impressed with Rissborough Rangers FC ground even though it hasnt got floodlights (Yet) and is a Division 2 ground.

Savagebee - I don't disagree but the service at the tea bar in the Club house is always incredibly slow, it can take forever and a day to get served which is frustrating

Risborough is a very nice club..great people there as well very welcoming!

Hanwell is one I like as well, decent bunch over there.

Been to Winslow once involved in a game and once on a scouting mission and both times have been most enjoyable!

Like Oxhey...but they have got that bloke there who opens the gate for the first team....think he runs the line sometimes for the ressies as well (fully kitted up) always trapping off at the ref and oppo players! Really no need.

That is true.

Karen - Well it's funny that Savagebee agrees isn't it, you have to miss the last couple of minutes of the first half so as as not to miss the start of the second, it's catch 22.

You normally miss all 90 minutes of a SSML game

Whatever happened to that buxom barmaid New Bradwell St Peter used to have five or six seasons ago, it was worth going to a game there just to see her

I heard on the grapevine that Haringey Borough's long serving barmaid has severed ties with the Club

None of your lads pal.....the team you were playing had a few players we were interested in. Long way to travel from north london thou!

Yeah would have thought it would have been odd as St Mags would have been hell of a distance to travel for any Winslow players

Maybe you should get out more - or even watch the Six Nations Rugby on BBC TV.

Today's game was (what I would call) a good of fashioned game of rugby - it's a shame we can't have any 'good old fashioned' games in the SSMFL, as too many officials either believe football can only be played on carpets or have gone H&S mad!!
