It's a safety issue.

The referee hasn't really got any other option but to call a halt.

Not sure where you get the idea that the result still stands GL, there will definitely be a rescheduled match.

I am surprised the ref abandoned it though. There can't have been more than a few hundred present at Fetcham Grove and the wall was obviously an isolated incident. Move everyone away from the area, clear any rubble if required and finish the game after a short delay, especially with not long left in the match to play.

Elf and safety wins again!

On a sidenote it will be interesting to see what happens when this game is replayed, if the result is anything other than a Dulwich win.

Will Dulwich miss out on automatic promotion by a point, or maybe Leatherhead may finish above them in the play offs so they'll have a home advantage there instead.

Either way it's another fixture to reschedule. More costs incurred by all and just for the sake of a small wall. We've all gone too soft!

Exactly. There's a discussion regarding this on NLM. There are mentions of walls collapsing during games at Leyton Orient, Tiverton, Oxford United, Burnley, Farnborough Town, AFC Bournemouth, Crawley, Halesowen (that was against us in the FA Vase) and Runcorn. In every case the matches carried on.

I've heard that Dulwich are waiting for a decision tomorrow from the FA/the league on whether or not the result will stand. I hope it does for their sake.

The original piece in our local press, (last Thursday), said the matter was to be discussed that Thuirsday evening, in two [parts.

(1) Result to stand or game to be re-played.

(2) If there was a case for discip[linary action against Leatherhead F.C., (presumably under Health & Safety).

The article did state that The League were going to study the referee's report first.

Unfortunately, the full article was not published on the web.

It has obviously now been confirmed that the game wil be replayed. I feel really sorry for Dulwich after that decision. 2-0 up, in control, only 12 or so minutes left.

Would have been a big result as both teams are in the title race, Dulwich will feel gutted if they lose the reply

They already have a fixture backlog because of the weather and progression in two cups taking place instead of league games.

Saw them beat Kingstonian 4-1 on Tuesday and although they were against ten men for most of the game, they played some fantastic football

We were 3-0 up with 4 minutes left and nearly ended up with a draw yesterday!

This is why the game had to be replayed as with 12 minutes left anything can happen.

Of course as strong favourites at that point Dulwich were the most aggrieved by this, and it is unfortunate, but weren't they the ones who were leaning on the wall from the pictures I've seen?

Yeah, they were celebrating their 2nd goal at the time.

They should get a good result if they ever have to play Jericho !!

:bolt:
