Roll up roll up, stick all your complaints in here and I will try and deal with what I can.

First point I will make though is that this forum like any other has rules. They are here: http://www.nonleague.co.uk/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=boardrules

You will see that most of us break a rule or two every other day. Clearly it would be hard to stick to all of these rules all the time but as a moderator I do my best to follow them whilst using common sense.

Secondly, this forum is owned by Ian W. He pays for it. It's not free. All the comments about free speech etc are nonsense. This would be the equivalent of walking into somebody else's house and saying what they hell you liked even though they pay the mortgage. Ian has a set of rules, if you don't like them, then you are fully entitled to go elsewhere or start your own forum.

Questions about moderation/bans etc should be directed to a mod by pm and after that if not resolved to Ian W. However as there's been a few people questioning it now and I don't like there to be any bad feeling on here, I think this thread should be used for all issues. I will not moderate any posts unless they are offensive. Fire away!

Right mr. moderator I suggest we stop all of this invisibleness and make a rule that unless we all know who someone is then they must use thier real name as a log in e.g.a poster uses the forum for a given period of time then by agreement is allowed to use a different name but untill we all know who is slagging us off then it needs to be a level playing field

I actually don't disagree with this at all but at present it isn't a rule here that people own up to who they are. Maybe Ian W could have an opinion? I've seen a few other forums (non-football) where this rule is enforced when there is a serious problem with trolling and it does seem to work. Of course, some people would consider this far too intrusive. I can think of one regular poster on here who hates his real name being used.

If you have an opinion and wish to post it then at least back it up by saying whose opinion it is.

No real name = no right to have an opinion - simples !

This way you'll cut out the BS'ers and everyone else might think a bit more carefully before typing.

Well said Mr Steve Rowland.

There is no requirement to have your real name & in reality it would be unlikely to work - who is to say that Fred Blogs is or isn't really his name?

I also have no worries about banning people if need be - problem is it is a fine line to walk, as to when to ban people. If it was a case of simply breaking the rules, then we would all be banned from driving due to speeding!

What is guaranteed though, is that whatever decision I make as site owner, or those made by any moderator, not everyone will agree. Those that disagree are usually the most vocal ones and the forum is not the place to discuss these decisions, in new topics. I dislike having people on moderation, but usually it is for very good reasons. I do however review them from time to time.

I am going to purchase a modification, which will allow members to report posts as spam or trolling - after a set number of reports, then the post will be automatically hidden for review. Hopefully this will be live shortly. keep an eye beneath posts for this going live.

If anyone has an issue, they can always PM me directly - my apologies if you do not get an immediate reply, but I do read all PM's shorty after receiving them.

Mistakes will be made, either by the poster (usually after a few pints), or by a moderator who might have had a bad day in the office and gives their time freely here, or by me as a site owner. Either way, we all need to be understanding.

Topics and posts will get removed (usually hidden) - sometimes these are simply whilst a topic is cleaned up or sometimes because the topic simply is not helping the situation.

At the end of the day, we are all here to support non league football - whether that be the CCL or our local club - but sometimes what is said on the terraces ought to stay on the terraces.

:)

Well said Mr Steve Rowland.

I knew someone would have to comment. I have no issue with using my real name if required by the site to do so but currently use Windsor_Sec as that's the tag I've used on other football forums for years now plus, as you've proved Smudge, I ain't the hardest person to track down as it's plastered in League, FA and County handbooks and websites !
