Hornchurch 1 Tonbridge 1

cup of tea

A fair result, we deserved to get something out of it.

Tonbridge had the better of the first half but couldn't convert any chances.

Hornchurch had the better of the second half but had the same problem.

Unfortunate goal to give away by us.

Think the conditions meant that there was quite a few niggling fouls from both sides, although Tonbridge seemed to complain quite a lot more than Hornchurch. Poor dive from one of their players in the second half.

Ha ha that dive was hilarious, was a blatant foul but shocking dive

Decent crowd as well, not up there with the best in the league but above our average so can't complain,we may of snuck up on droylsden in the chart lol

As for the game, they should of been out of sight at half time, although we did wake up after about 40 minutes, their goal was against the run of play and from the second half performance I think we could of got all 3 points.

If we want to stay up though we have to turn up for 90 minutes not 45/50

Taken from c**tbridge forum, someone called Dan

Usual story from a trip to Hornchurch, battling with a poor pitch and an opposition content to keep committing niggly fouls, as a result we struggled to find space. Dominated the first half, the second was evenly matched and we gave up a needless equaliser after working so hard to gain the lead. Frannie being bizarrely subbed summed up the afternoon, oh and we had to put up with that prat of a kitman gesturing at our fans again, hasn't grown up from our last visit obviously

Obviously the twats were mouthing off to little tel and they didn't like it,tough shit.

I think a few of their fans have got a problem, trying to chase Elliot off the pitch that time, the problem with Lowestoft in the playoff final (we didn't have a problem with them in the playoff final last year, both sets of fans were impeccably behaved). Never mind.

The Elliot incident was laughable, about 20 of their fans, real hard nuts obviously trying to get to him after he did a naughty challenge on one of their players, who would of thought such a thing would happen in a game of football!!! Problem is,had any one of those 20 real hard men really wanted to get to Elliot they could of simply jumped over any part of the ground to get to him.

They have a real problem with Essex, think its mainly Billericay but they tend to turn up to games with a negative attitude towards all things Essex, which is probably the most ridiculous thing I have ever come across in all my time in football seeing as we are separated by about half a mile of river. The truth is the people are no different this side of the river to that.Sad thing was, that until the Elliot incident,I think on the few occasions the two sets of fans, when playing each other actually got on ok,remember drinking with quite a few of them on a few occasions at ours and theirs.Still, makes for an interesting rivalry and now I don't like them because they don't like us,childish really but thats football fans for you.

Seems to be a common theme this season really slow starters but rev it up in the second half think we really need to start turning one points into three starting at Eastbourne next saturday which i think will be a draw

Another good point yesterday, though I agree we need to get home wins. It seems in this league compared to the ryman, certain teams are much stronger at home than they are away and that puts pressure on us as we struggle to get points away, particularly recently, meaning that the points at home will be vital later to help us secure conference south status. I remember in some seasons when Thurrock were in the conference south they looked like getting relegated, but managed to pick wins up at the right time, mostly at home, and we will need to try to do the same or better. The key for us is to get ahead in matches to put pressure on the other team, as it seems we have to try hard to get results from losing positions and that will mean very few likely wins for us.

I share the sentiments expressed by Wivenhoe.

Another point that could prove to be vital, but we need to start winning and picking up three points. Easier said than done in this league I know.

Keep the Urchin Faith.

It's a good point considering how shocking we were for the first 40 minutes but we need to be winning these games,if not we will have to start winning at places like Eastbourne,Eastleigh,Dover and Chelmo.

Anyway, credit where credits due, this was posted on their forum today and seems from a more level headed member of their fan base, perhaps its one of those I have drunk with before lol ;)

In the end, thought a draw was a fair result, although I suspect that the Angels had more and better chances. To me, the turning point was Frannie's excellent cross on the turn late in the first half which Lover at least should really have put on target - we were applying lots of pressure at the time.

Yes, the pitch was poor but I doubt that any would have been up to much outside Levels 1-5 - full credit to Hornchurch for getting the game on at all when Billericay just down the road failed to do so.

Thought that the ref had an excellent game in trying conditions. Unfortunate booking for Worgs but that's the way the rules are applied these days.

Yes, their kitman acted as a right wally but a couple of our fans did us as a Club no favours with their foul language. It ain't clever and it ain't funny - grow up.

Great to see Jon and Mikel warming up prior to the game - makes the game of "guess the leavers" even more interesting. Good point in their programme about the economics of a BSBS club's finances : "we need to keep playing on Saturdays, if only for the revenue. We lose (revenue of) about £2000 in gate money and bar takings if we have to play on a Tuesday". Bearing in mind our paucity of home games, it becomes very clear why Tommy has been asked to prune the wages bill.

since i chose to steward down by the pitch for this game, i have to agree that some of the Tonbridge supporters were an embarrassment to their club! their language and attitude towards and remarks towards us, for what ever reason got them so angry, was disgusting!

I'm sure that the real Tonbridge support isn't like this...
