The VERY unoffical MFC Facebook page

Supporters may have seen the exchange on the Facebook page with regard to the appointment of a new Margate manager. I was not prepared to let the implied criticism of the club go without a response and am a little tired of the repeated criticism of KP at the club by JJ. I'm no longer able to post on the page - so clearly my response struck a nerve - but I wanted to make it clear to supporters in any doubt, that the club are working hard in the right way to get the right person in to be our next manager. Ia lso wanted to confirm that the Facebook page is NOT an official club channel and that any club news will no longer be officially featured there. I'll continue to feature it on this forum, the official Twiiter account and of course the website. Here's are my comments from what I imagine is my deleted post. The trigger was a link to Julian Dicks' post in a column he writes for an Essex newspaper:

"A couple of things. Dicks is not reporting all the communication he has had with the club. Make of that what you will. So not too much insight there then!

On the broader issue of the new manager's recruitment, one of the actions being taken is to talk to other people about the applicants. Significant effort is going in to getting the right person and the final decision will be based on the qulaifications and experience of the individual to do the job plus their personality fit with the club. (JJ that's not an inviation to pursure your apparent obsession with KP.) So it's quite like most recruitment processes then. Unless a potential manager makes outrageous wage demands then money is not a critical issue either; again much like the recuritment of a key individual to any business. The club has said that given the choice, we'd rather CK had stayed, but given where we are, the focus is on getting the right person. I don't recall a previous managerial appointment where lots of supporters have grumbled; be that Robin Trott, Barry Ashby, Terry Yorath, Iain O'Connell or example because most supporters seem happy for the club to go about its business in recruting the manager who the supporters then get right behind.

I appreciate that until the final decision is made and the permanent manager announced that speculation will be the order of the day. But it would be good to think that there is support for what the club is trying to do rather than to highlight one bloke's post saying he doesn't think he's got the job. I note that the propensity for having a dig at the club seems to have followed JJ from the unofficial message board to here which is a shame as I know he’s followed Gate for a long time and that this is his Facebook page. I guess you could choose to be more supportive JJ – your call."

Just thought I would add that you are not alone. After watching, what appeared to be, deletion of any pro-Margate posts, I questioned it and those posts got deleted. I was then blocked from seeing certain peoples posts so was looking at responses to comments that were invidible. So I questioned the purpose of the group (image below) and was banned within a minute.

Not sure what the ulterior motive is there but it certainly is not to allow all Margate fans/officials/helpers to give their view.

However, there is another Facebook Group called Margate Football Club whose description is 'A group that supports Margate Football Club' and it seems that freedom of speech and people being allowed to have their own opinions is evident.

When I questioned as to whether Mr Jacobs photo was an old one as he does not resemble anyone that I have seen at matches I was informed that it wasn't so presumably he doesn't come - therefore is not in a position to make the critical comments that he has made. He can run whatever facebook site he likes but I am about to withdraw myself from his one for sure

The thing I forgot, until I just noticed it in my email, is that he initially admitted deleting Wellsies post as i received a message along the lines of 'message deleted as this is supposed to be a fun group, not another MFC media vehicle' then claimed it was Facebook playing up.

Really cannot work out his agenda.

JJ comes along to quite a few games and I find him to be a nice chap. However if he is slagging off a certain person in the way that is being mentioned (I haven't seen the comments myself) then that is unnecesarry and unwarranted,.

JJ, I'm disappointed with you on this occasion. See you at the next home game you attend.

Apart from this I will always take the time out to speak to JJ. I have no problems with him at all otherwise.
