LATEST COLLIERS WOOD UNITED NEWS........Sunday 20th January 2013 - 11.20am

Current prospects for Wednesday's home league match against Guernsey at Cobham FC look pretty bleak. Further snow is currently falling in the area and the pitch is covered in snow which has frozen overnight. The forecast is not great either with temperatures unlikely to get above freezing over the next 48 hours.

There will be a further announcement on Tuesday morning.

WEDNESDAY - 1st XI home v Guernsey (League) 7.30pm

(at Cobham FC)

SATURDAY - 1st XI home v Horley Town (League) 3pm (at Horley Town FC)

SATURDAY - Reserves away v Walton Casuals (League) 3pm

The Southern Youth League has postponed all its matches already.

Good afternoon,

With the current adverse weather conditions causing chaos, it has been decided that ALL Southern Youth League fixtures scheduled for next week are postponed.

The snow is continuing to fall and the temperature is forecast to remain on or around freezing, meaning the snow will be unable to melt and leave us anytime soon.

The weather is really beginning to test the strength and resolve of the committee in terms of being able to complete the season on time. I would therefore appreciate your understanding, co-operation and flexibility with regards to the rescheduling of matches later on in the season.

On a serious note, the temperature is supposed to climb rapidly to a giddy height of 5 degrees on Saturday.

In other words, if there were no snow on the pitch by then, there shouldn't be a waterlogging issue as you will have removed the snow before it melts on the pitch.

Easier said than done but Dulwich managed it on Saturday only to be let down by the temperature so it is possible. That wouldn't be the case on Saturday.

It is a tough one. The snow insulates ground against frost. The temp on Thursday is supposed to dip to -5 so if you get rid of the snow then will the temp get up enough to remove all the frost from the ground.

There is some glimmer of hope on the horizon.

RH4 forecast for the next 6 days, is warming up to a staggering minimum of 10 degrees by next monday.

There is no truth in the rumour that a yeti was spotted walking over the Meadowbank pitch.

It turned out to be our kit man !

:bolt:
