VPCTFC
As for Krooners comments about the "p" word, I mentioned at the start of the season that our League is very competitive, so this points per game issue really counts against us and maybe needs revision by the FA. Maybe they could rank a league's strength by performances in Vase and FA Cup instead, but it is currently easier to go up from a league with two or three good sides e.g. United Counties, than it is for our league. For what it's worth though, I hope two will go up, regardless of whether or not that contains us If they based it on Vase and FA Cup results there'd be hardly anyone promoted from the CCL. We're one of the worst step 5 leagues there is using that criteria.
E&E Rich
If they based it on Vase and FA Cup results there'd be hardly anyone promoted from the CCL. We're one of the worst step 5 leagues there is using that criteria. I'm intrigued now. Obviously the Northern League would romp home if it were based on just Vase displays, but in the last few seasons we have had a fair bit of success. Two clubs at the 4q of the FA Cup in the last two seasons with two others at 3q that I can recall in Badshot and Guildford (two years ago) is certainly comparable with any other step 5 league. In the Vase we seem to get more teams into the last 32 in recent seasons. Epsom, Chertsey (last 16), South Park and now Guernsey and Hanworth Villa. Certainly a few years back we might have been one of the worst, but I'm not so sure now. And Badshot Lea are definitely not out of it, especially with the possibility of two going up. Only three teams have dropped less points, and two of them have a massive backlog.
bomaya
There's 14 Step 5 leagues so in the Vase we'd need to regularly get say two teams in the last 16 each year to be better than average. Anyone fancy checking the stats on that?
VPCTFC
Step 5 teams getting to the last 16 of the FA Vase in the previous four seasons plus this season where we're still in the last 32: Northern League - 18 teams Eastern Counties and United Counties - 10 Midland Alliance - 8 Western, Wessex and Spartan South Midlands - 6 Sussex - 4 Kent, Hellenic, Essex, Combined Counties and North West Counties - 3 Northern Counties East - 2 There have been 10 step 6 sides from various leagues as well, none CCL. You also have to take into account the Northern Counties East and North West Counties sides are regularly drawn against the Northern League sides in earlier rounds so it's harder for them to get through. I've just realised I'm one team short. I don't know who it is but definitely not a CCL side. In the FA Cup we've had four teams reach the third qualifying round in the last five years. I don't know how this compares to other leagues except to say 17 step 5 and 6 clubs have got that far in the last two seasons.
