I think you will find I have only "put down" one of our players...a free transfer from Kettering, Hervel.

I haven't put down the others, merely stating fact.

I was merely responding to the Horley fan who seemed to suggest we had a first team out, so I just listed appearances and their individual circumstances. What the [****!!****] is wrong with that??

It's not just you, it's mentioned on the Dons forums every time a SSC game comes along. And it's not just AFC Wimbledon.

I don't get why you feel you have to point out the player's appearances to disprove the theory you're playing what you consider a first team. Take for example Jim Fenlon who you don't class as a first teamer. His appearance record - http://www.afcwimbledon-mad.co.uk/afc_wimbledon/player/season_142/jim_fenlon_123571/index.shtml. He's clearly a good player and only 18. You should be celebrating the fact you've got such promising youngsters.

I know you've said you'll be at the game. Fair play to you and the other 2,3 or 400 who go, I just don't like snobbishness towards reserves and teams making excuses about injuries, suspensions etc. No team in the history of football has played the same eleven players from the start of the season to the finish.

It's my belief that a fan should be a fan of the club rather than just some of the players. I know millions aren't, as you can see when a Premier League team plays a changed squad in a League Cup game. The players who do get chosen are dismissed as if they're an inferior species. I just don't get it.

As I said - the main point was to list the players for information - not snobbishness against reserves/youth/injured. Do you seriously think I would go tonight if I was snobbish??

At no point did I say Jim Fenlon wasn't a first teamer!

In fact, I have split the team sheet into "First Teamers" (top section) and then listed the Development players below.

I mention that only Hussey and Harrison would be considered "first team starters" because if all players were fit they would be the only ones out of our squad that would make the starting line up. There is a big difference between a "first team starter" and "played for the first team".

If Fenlon started at left back, as you suggest then Hussey would not start - same position.

Even at the moment Harrison would be thrid choice behind McCallum and Midson...so I was being generous.

As it goes, I think Fenlon is a great talent and he will go on to much better things but to suggest I am putting down our players is just plain wrong. You read into that what you wanted to - I am one of Fenlon's biggest fans.

Lastly, I think you will find there are some fans in every club that put down their own players. I don't think Wimbledon are unique in that at all.

In fact when you hear Chelsea/Spurs/premiershit teams etc fans go on I think we are totally different.

But hey, feel free to slag of one team's fans because everyone else is perfect, aren't they?

Blimey, calm down. I didn't accuse you of snobbishness.

I like AFC Wimbledon, I'm in a minority in the general non-league world if posts on other forums are anything to go by but hey ho. If it comes across as me slagging off their fans then I'm not putting my point across properly or you're reading something into my posts that I'm not writing. You're clearly not reading everything I've written

I've said 'it's not just AFC Wimbledon', I've said it millions of fans of other clubs. It's the general attitude in football at the majority of football clubs even down to step 4.

Quote - "At no point did I say Jim Fenlon wasn't a first teamer!"

Quote today at 1.01 pm - "Only Harrison and Hussey could be considered "first team starters"."

Anyway, go and enjoy the game. I don't care if you win, lose or draw in case you think I'm hoping you get stuffed.

And I hope we draw you in it again soon. I enjoyed my last visit to Kingsmeadow in this cup despite it being the coldest night in the past 50 years.

It looks like we both read things into each others posts that the other person didn't mean.

I am not getting worked up here, just merely trying to make clearer what I meant.

The problem with forums is people read what has been typed by others in different ways.

Unsure why you have included those two quotes.

What I mean by "First team starters" is that is who the manager would pick in a "first choice XI" when you can only choose XI players.

Hussey would go above Fenlon in the pecking irder as we have just signed the ex-Coventry player and he is a better full back than Fenlon (at the moment!).

Fenlon is a first team player, no doubt about it, but the manager would not start him above Hussey.

And apologies if you didn't mean me when you said snobbishness...it seemed implied because you quoted my post.

I will enjoy the game (assuming it is not a poor one), thanks.

Epsom 1-0 Wembley. Dale Marvell scored just before ht. Against the run of play and Wembley have been the sharper team.

Wimbledon 4-1 Horley Town. Surrey Senior Cup

0-0 at half time and had been a not unusual county cup performance from Dons in the first half. Horley played very well in the first 45. Dons went ahead early in the second half thanks to an OG, but Horley equalised a minute later following a Seb Brown goalkeeping howler. The game ended comfortably for Dons and one or two sitters were missed too. Decent performance from Horley though and good to see Anthony Jupp's 500th appearance recognised before the game - a fantastic achievement!

I managed to capture the 4 Dons goals on the phone. Horribly biased footage (sorry Horley!), didn't even get the Seb Brown howler!

AFC WIMBLEDON Vs HORLEY TOWN

Enjoyed the night very friendly people ,meet a fellow poster who did find us in the crowd of 325 (25 at least from Horley) Thought we were the better side in the first half and we did well to get the goal back through Dave Brown. The fitness etc showed in the last 30 minutes as AFC took control. Biggest cheer of the night was when Horley scored, thought Wimbledon supporters were very queit and did not get behind their team at all and were out shouted by the Horley fans.

Great to see Anthony Jupp get rewarded before the game for his 500 games for Horley Town.

Best Quote of the night was from the St Johns Amberlance crew who were near the Horley travelling fans in the second half when they turned and thanked us for keepeing them entertained and what good supporters we where to the Club of Horley Town.

A number of short Video's are up http://www.youtube.com/user/HORLEYFC

Lots of photo's allso http://www.horleytownfc.btck.co.uk/

Carthorse,

It wasn't difficult to find you, lol.

Glad you enjoyed your evening, despite the scoreline.

Even when we had 800+ coming to these games we never made any noise. County cups just don't do it (partly why I asked about Cup priority last week in a separate topic).

I agree you shaded the first half in terms of chances.

Goalies to blame for the first 2 goals and after that fitness took its toll, not that it's ever helped us before...

Good luck for the rest of the season except when you play RPV.
