CCL PREMIER TRADITION

BAD GUY

Recommended Posts

So with only just over half the season gone for most clubs, has the CCL Premier Champions tradition leaving us this season ?

The history records informs us all that since CCL Premier season 2000-2001 if you want to be champions, the maximumu amount of defeats is 4 bar the exceptions of last seasons champions Guildford who lost 5 and in 2006-2007 when Chipstead lost 7.

So now with only half the season gone, has the trend moved ? We look at the current status of the CCL Premier we can see that already only EGHAM played 22 - lost 5, GUERNSEY only played 16 - lost 1 and South Park only played 17 - lost 3.

But only half the season has gone where I would expect the above clubs to lose more games but how many more ? In my opinion if tradition is to repeat itself probably Guernsey are the only team to repeat this feat of losing no more than 4-5 games a season BUT let me say, this tradition could be broken as clubs are now matching each other and is clear that on their day any one club can beat the other in this league.

So are times a-changing ? NO run away champions for a change ? Makes the league more exciting ? The season will not be over come February as previous seasons (Hurrah !), so the league will now be interesting upto the end of the season (or bnear on) with something to play for, as opposed nothing to play for, for some of the top clubs anyway, especially when second place for promotion could be up for grabs.

The league will be clear come feb I feel, for me it's Eghams for the taking, Epsom have done great but still 7 points behind and that run will come to an end and with them being at the top teams will want to beat them even more now, Badshot just having a bad spell but they need to pick up quick, Windsor whatever happens this season is a success and they will have a major day who wins it and then there's Guernsey too many games to catch up on they will do well to finish in the top 2 let alone win it.

Windsor only lost 4 last season and didn't finish top.

If current form over the last six games is repeated (which it won't be but it gives me something to do for five minutes) the table will finish:

Epsom & Ewell 104 points

Egham 101

Guernsey 91

Windsor 86

South Park 78

Horley 72

Cove 67

Badshot Lea 64

Ha ha nice game VP but as you quite correctly say, its doesn't quite work out like that :D !!! You are correct in so far that Windsor only lost 4 games last season, but I was refering to previous CCL Champions records.

What I am trying to emphasise is that it seems like this season teams are beating each other and theres still along way to go, remember Hanworth Villas winning run late last season (I think it was).....anything can change. But clubs are more evenly matched, or thats how it seems, so there's are no runaway leaders as such this season, well not yet, which makes the league more interesting. You know the saying, rather have the pioints in the bag instead of playing ctch-up.....

Anyway we will see.....

Considering the number of games that have been postponed so far this season, I would much rather have the points in the bag - But I would say that wouldn't I. No way would I want to see Windsor playing 3 or 4 games per week

Loving your work VPCTFC!

I would agree with much of the above, but don't see Hanworth getting there this time. They have too much work to do and remain in the Vase which is where I'd be putting my priority this season if I were them. Heavy snow in Walsall today too.

It is much closer this year though which is good news for the League, even though it may have a bearing on how many go up. For me, we are up to 2 points a game at this stage of the season for the first time since the late seventies, which is a good place to be.

BAD GUY's a good bloke but if Guernsey had played five more games this thread would not even exist. I await abuse as I claim the mantle left by Guernsey Donkey !

Not abuse but Guernsey have only won two out of thier last five league games. What makes you think the next five will be any better?
