OldTowner
There have been a fair seletion of comments on the forum over the last few weeks, some negative, some positive and some, just an opinion. Now is the time for us ALL to get behind the Team, including the Management Team and the Board. Let's get there in large numbers for the Hastings game, be supportive, be positive and be VOCAL. As noted on other threads the Carshalton fans on Tuesday were superb with their support for their team, bottom of the League or not, they still gave them everything. Town supporters need to follow this example. So, get there and support and make some NOISE. Come on Towners - start of the 2nd half of the season. thecoldend
Great performance by the lads. Hard work, graft and sprit!!! Great defending. Thought Lee White at centre back was immense... Onwards and upwards from here
AnfieldTowner
Great battling win - well done and thanks to all concerned. Everybody gave their all today - we hit the woodwork twice before we scored and it looked like it wouldn't be our day again. But the players kept working - Adam Wallace was tearing Hastings apart down the right hand side and Scott McGleish got that vital goal. Feared the worse when Gary Abbott came on for Hastings late on - thankfully he didn't score so remains an Enfield legend!
CD Towner
Credit where it's due. Everyone put a shift in today. The back four were solid (White impressing particularly) the midfield 3 all covered a lot of ground and we had the right balance in there and the front 3 were a threat. Given the opportunity after recent discussions, I took the opportunity to stand by the dugouts today. I have to say the first half was full of the usual unconstructive shouting and swearing as mistakes were made but as the sense that the game was there for the taking in the second half grew, SN and his team seemed to encourage a lot more positively - food for thought perhaps. Well done Towners, some pride!
Tom S
Depending on which source you believe Gary Abbott is either 48 or 49 (Hastings website has his date of birth as 7.1.64, but other sites give 7.6.64 or 7.11.64). Has he just become the oldest player to be booked in an Isthmian League game?
OldTowner
Well done YOU SUPPORTERS. A bit of POSITIVE encouragement and some noise - sure it helped. Good performance and team spirit by all Town Players Today - well done to ALL. A 1 - 0 win was of course most welcome, but the Team play and effort said it all. Now for the test - can we repeat that performance next Saturday at Cray - another MUST win so, let's get there in numbers. Well done Towners. andyetfc
Much better team performance all round. Jay opened up lots of possibilities and we were able to take advantage of the crosses he was able to put across. Let's not get carried away with one win. There's still a lot to do but a win over Hastings was thoroughly deserved.
Mr Tesco
A good win for the Enfield Town and one which they fully deserved. Hit the post and had some good chances infront of goal. Everyone put a shift in today and can't fault the players effort. Left back looked a very good player did well at supporting the attackers and caused the opposition problems all day long. As you might of guessed don't support Enfield but have seen them a couple of times once this season and couple last season. Have to say a great thanks to all the supporters and people behind the scences making me feel welcome. Love the new ground as well it's one of those grounds which you will remember. Cheers guys all the best for the rest of the season.
Steph
What was good about yesterday was that we defended from the front which meant that our defence wasn't kept under constant pressure without back up from the forwards and midfield.
CD Towner
Agreed, McGleish worked very hard as did the midfield 3 behind of O'Brien, Hope and Bardle/Henry. When attacks did come at us, Kirby and White were up to the challenge.
Enfield United
That's more like it a good solid 1-0 win, giving the oppo no scoring chances and restricting them to very long distant off target attempts. 3-4-0 would have been more accurate in the dominance and chances we had, but 1-0 is what the doctor ordered. We had a decent blend of hard work and in Tyler, Jay and Mcgleish we had some very good technically skillful contributions. COYT, we can go into the game at Cray knowing we have what it takes and thats self belief.
andyetfc
How about taking a lead from Mr Tesco. BOGOF. Encourage ground hoppers to revisit the ground with a free pass for another hopper who comes with them. I apologise if Mr Tesco is not a hopper, but the name and idea could go together. Mr Tesco
You had 3 groundhoppers yesterday me and 2 friends who support Reading Town. Our game was postponed so we decided to see your game. Might visit again at some point again if I can but will recommend to anyone. Good to be part of the Army behind the goal good fun and keep up the support.
