Martin
Here is the link: http://www.sloughobserver.co.uk/sport/football/articles/2013/01/07/65615-kick-off-for-views-on-new-stadium-plans/ I saw this yesterday and was slightly concerned by the reference to an athletics track....... Stuntman Mark
Nice to get some news on the ground but a bit unsure if I should be pleased at this latest development. Not sure this vote was ever part of the original plan was it? I have absolute faith in the people at the club working behind the scenes on this but I'd be interested to hear what the club's line is on all this, how it might affect timelines etc.
HorshamRebel
You could read it two ways... 1. The athletics track will be in the football ground as you are led to believe in the leading sentence 2. The athletics track will be part of the multi-purpose games area mentioned in the main body of text, not the football ground. Knowing that newspapers tend to say something in the leading paragraph (to get people to read the main article), and then can go on to expand it in a completely different way in the main body, I would like to think it would be part of the multi-purpose area for the schools to use. Another reason for this would be the greater expanded footprint the football ground would need, if it had an athletics track around it. I may be completely wrong though
brighton_rebel
I was concerned when i heard it was all up for discussion again - i thought this had happened a while back with the overwhelming majority supporting the clubs plans. But been told this new consultation is because it is partly on education land.
Martin
Looking at the council website and the consultation documents: http://slough-consult.limehouse.co.uk/portal/arbour_vale_playing_fields_consultation?tab=files This clearly shows the athletics track not within the community sports stadium which is a relief. Thanks for that Martin, it clears a few issues up for me. That Observer peice is quite poorly written, it almost makes it sound like one of the options is just to leave the area as it is (i.e. a semi disused school). Having attended the consultation I suspect a few locals would be in favour of that! Still frustrating for everyone, hopefully I'll get the chance to vote on it anyway! A Rebel and a Saint
The impression I get is that this doesn't affect the stadium plans, only the shared facilities that will be between the stadium and the school. Hopefully whatever happens things will start to move forward again.
camra rebel
Just looked at the plans on the link and Plan C shows the old site layout with about 70% less parking at the ground than the plans on the Arbour Park website. http://www.arbourpark.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/Arbour-Park-Site-Plan.pdf Have the plans reverted back to the old layout with club house nearer to Stoke Road and on the other side of the entrance road, does anyone know?
