Phil Handford

I understand that there will be a statement in the morning.

The news was not made public today because the club wanted to make sure that the players found out officially first rather than from any other source.

Makes sense when you consider the importance of the match tonight.

I heard he resigned on Saturday before the game as he was hacked off with the travelling arrangements as the straw that broke the camels back as i BELIEVE HE HAS BEEN UNHAPPY WITH THE SET UP FOR SOME TIME. Good luck to him in the future I am sure he will soon be in a job as he was an excellent asst manager

Thanks must go to Phil for all his efforts over the past few years.

He was a nice guy. and had a good line of chat with the players.

I wish him good luck in whatever he does in the future.

If Ade Pennock is in line for his job, we could not have a better person to fill the post. He certainly seemed to be doing his bit on Tuesday, Also encouraging the fans to get behind the lads when the penalties were taken.

Thanks Phil for all you efforts on behalf of GNFC and if Ade is to take on Phil's post. GNFC has certainly struck lucky.

First job, if he gets the post is to work on improving the defence's positional sense & organization. This has been his strength when he has played for us & I'm sure he can pass on invaluable advice. He was giving good positional coaching all through Tuesday's game. Nice & calm & clear & the players understood & reponded.

Of course it's virtually impossible to do this, mid match, in a dead ball situation (our real weakness): it often just causes more confusion, especially if players try to move too late & end up leaving one hole & not plugging another. This has to be done on the training ground & all the time we're only training twice a week this won't be perfect.

Absolutely agree Graham S. It was somewhat refreshing to hear clear concise instructions from the bench on Tues and also the way Ade handled the players especially those who were substituted.

Although Ade is new to footie management, I believe, can't help but feel he is going to be good for the Fleet and who knows what it could lead him onto, in the future! He has my vote for the AM job. Good luck Adrian.

Whatever Phil's problems were, everone will wish him the very best and I'm sure he will get a big ovation at Fleet if whichever team he eventually links up with play here.

However, it does seem the job was always lined up for Ade. I suspect the club also realised that we had one coach too many with Andy, Phil, Ron and Ade.

I think if Ade does get offered the job he will do it brilliantly, and will be the perfect foil for Andy.

Also superb news about Ben. We have finally got a settled squad and this is paying dividends on the pitch.

I suspect that Chester will be giving us a lot of respect, considering our away form against the top clubs.
