VPCTFC
Interesting to read that Ladbrookes were looking at taking over Sportingbet but, to quote "A deal could not be thrashed out, however, because of legal concerns about Sportingbet's activities in unregulated markets." http://www.guardian....ver-sportingbet The piece also mentions countries like Turkey that have declared a company that used to be owned by SportingBet as illegal and a £21 million fine in the USA to avoid prosecution. I realise there are jobs at stake and sponsorship money but you'd be better off without them. I'm not a fan of bookies at the best of times. My old man was a jockey many, many moons ago and still liked a bet until his dying days but he taught me a valuable lesson about never trusting a bookie. He was right. Blue Square wriggled out of paying me £600 once because I managed to place a bet two seconds before a penalty was scored in a football match. They said it wasn't a valid bet as their operator didn't have time to close next goal betting. It's not my fault I was quicker than the person they employed. They now have a five or ten second gap after a bet's placed during live games to make sure their doddering old fools can turn the betting off in time. A lot of betting shops are set up on council estates where they're taking money off the most needy and desperate in society. There was a documentary about Paddy Power that perfectly illustrated the way these companies operate. They're all scum in my opinion.
