Margate vs Kingstonian - Pitch Inspection

The Ryman League has given permission for clubs to call off games today where there is no hope of the match being played tomorrow.

East Thurrock v Bognor Regis has been called off today.

Qt last a bit of sense from the Ryman League and a saving for visiting teams on travel expenses.

Been a fine morning but will that have been enough.Graham would surely have worked a miracle if he's managed to get the pitch playable. The problems arise though as soon as the pitch starts to cut up Lets just hope we can perform this time if it does go ahead.

This is what is now left today....

Harrow v Cray - Inspection 11am

Lewes v Thurrock

Whitehawk v Enfield Town - Inspection 10am

Wingate & Finchley v Hastings United

Given that we have still got proper winter to come yet and there always seems to be a stack of postponements these days, maybe the league will start to utilise those blank Tuesday's earlier in the season a bit more.

We were originally scheduled just two midweek league games between the start of the season and the end of the year, now we have 4 to play in the first 5 weeks of 2013. Chances are at least a couple of them will fall foul of the weather too.

When you consider some sides still have 26/27 games to play, they are already nearly on two games a week for the rest of the season. A couple more postponements and they will be struggling to fit them in.

I would be iterested if there are any stats out there that designate whether a club at this level/in this league wins a higher proprtion of home games on a midweek night than it does on saturdays.

My gut feel though is that they do-and therefore you want to have saturday home games postponed to a tuesday night where you have a better chance of winning, but you would want your saturday away matches to be played on the saturday,as opposed to being postponed to midweek.

Of course-that is only one aspect of it-as yep-you want to maximise your points on the footballing side, but on the business side, you need your home fixtures to keep the cash rolling in.

Thus maybe we can console ourselves that the cray fixture got played in front of 400 people (really-did not look like it tom me!) and the club probably got £3000 of revenue in
