Strange Sackings

Both Sean O'Driscoll and Henning Berg have been sacked by Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, respectively, within the last 24 hours.

Henning Berg's sacking shows just how poor the Venky's are at running a club, so maybe this wasn't too big a shock, but the Sean O'Driscoll sacking seems very strange indeed!

Nottingham Forest have had a major cash injection, which was badly needed after the death of Nigel Doughty, and they hadn't been performing too badly in the Championship. So why sack him?

It's a funny old game, as Mr. Greaves once commented.

I wouldn't mind a couple of years pay for a few months work.

Another great example of the nutters that run football having more money than sense.

Yes but just one win, at lowly Peterborough, in ten matches since Berg's appointment isn't very encouraging is it and the infamous Venkys probably think it's best to appoint someone else before it's too late. I wonder whether they have ever regretted sacking Sam Allardyce.

And even less knowledge of football itself !!

Alex McLeish has been appointed as the new Nottingham Forest boss. A good appointment, in my opinion.

As for Blackburn Rovers, it appears they are turning the clock back and trying to get Mark Hughes in as boss. I wonder how long he'd last?

McLeish is a dreadful appointment IMO. A football club needs stability and continuity to be successful, and owners should start being realistic about what they consider success to be for their clubs.

Maybe with the owners that Nottingham Forest have, success this season is nothing but promotion?

They've obviously spent big at The City Ground, and they will want a return on their investment.

It'll be interesting to see how well Nottingham Forest do in the New Year. Personally, I'm not sure they will go up automatically (I think that Cardiff and Crystal Palace will be 1st and 2nd) but maybe in the play-offs they will have a chance.

I take your point with McLeish, but at Championship level he should be able to do a good job.
