Steph
I thought that the ref was reasonable. While many refs would have given the goal keeper a red card for the foul on Tyler I thought that if he had done that it would have been harsh. There did not appear to be an intention to foul it was just one of those things. If he had give a red for that then Gio should have received his marching orders later in the game. As for the comments about Leiston I think I saw a different game. Leiston were faster and fitter than us. They broke through our defence time and again and were very unlucky not to score more. They defended in numbers but that did not prevent them attacking in numbers as well. We seemed to be a team of 11 individuals who had not been introduced. It is clear that we missed Hunt and Hope but before Kirbs went off he had performed poorly and has been for the last month or two. Is he carrying an injury? Is Adam carrying an injury as he disappeared for many periods of the game. Tyler disappeared for even longer periods. Hahn had a better game than he has done and seemed worth his place. He took his goal well and several shots from him were only just off target. Altogether Leiston appeared an improving team where as we appear to be dross. Now that is off my chest! We can beat Whitehawk and must go with a positive attitude.
StoneCold
First game in a while and It was clear to see where our problems lay. Town started with Kendall & White as Full backs (both of whom are natural centre backs although seem to play as full backs recently), we then have Bardle & Lockie who are both full backs playing as wing men with Lee Allen who has also mainly played as a full back playing in centre midfield, again he's recently played in this position. Upfront we have Tyler who is a right winger playing up top alongside Gunz. Its clear to see that with at least 5 players playing in 'unfamiliar' positions we are weak. Having said this I know Steve can only pick from the players that he has available to him and as is the case players are therefore having to be adaptable. I thought that we were a little unlucky to go into the break behind. Leiston had 1 shot which was a very well taken free kick. We had a few good chances with Hann's free kick well saved, 2 goal mouth scrambles with Gunz unlucky not to score & another chance falling to White at the back post who's half volley clipped the top of the bar. We miss a player like Rudi in the centre of midfield, we lack that 'bite' from a player who will break up playin the middle of the park which is then allowing the opposition to run free through our midfield and giving the defence more and more attacks to have to deal with. We cannot defend for 40-50 minutes of a game with attack after attack, it is inevitable that we will concede which is why we struggle to keep the opponents out. Finally a little query, why did the club agree to having the game ko at 1pm? after all Leiston were not so helpful when we requested this game to be played earlier in the season (Oct I think)? MbrunoB
Although we requested the date change they had already rescheduled a game for that date.
