Leiston v Enfield Town

Hope was suspended and somebody said that Hunt was ill.

Disappointing to lose and, yes, to concede 3 again but there were mitigating circumstances on a very heavy (but not waterlogged surprisingly) pitch. Steve shuffled the pack at the back with Dave Kendall playing right back with Jordan Lockie playing ahead of him down the right side. Unfortunately Mark Kirby had to be withdrawn during the first half and this resulted in Lee White being switched to the centre and Jey Siva coming on at left back.

Overall Leiston were probably good value for their win but there were a few crucial moments where, if decisions had gone our way, the result would have been different. The referee was very lenient in his treatment of a few challenges in the first half - one such challenge on Mitch Hahn should, I thought, have resulted in a yellow card for a player who was finally booked fairly early in the second half - if this had been his second yellow then things could have been different.

Also, I think it was at 2-1 that Tyler Campbell was fouled by the goalkeeper who came rushing out of his area with Tyler through on goal. The ref gave the free kick but only a yellow card for the keeper. Whilst I suspect he might argue that Tyler was going away from goal that was only to avoid the keeper coming at him at full speed! Any keeper who comes that far, that quickly, misses the ball and catches the player would expect to see a red card I would think.

We were even more infuriated when we were denied what seemed to me to be a clear penalty after Tyler's leg was caught from behind as he drew it back to shoot.

The game's all about decisions and this is all ifs, buts and maybes but I don't think we should be too hard on the players today. In my opinion they gave their all in difficult circumstances and we're just not getting the rub of the green at the moment. That said, we do need to start picking up some points very quickly now - Whitehawk is going to be very difficult but we do need something out of that one after this defeat.

Oh, and as the Leiston fans sang to us, it was a long way home after we'd lost - too long on Boxing Day!

Was not there so can't comment on performance, but some interesting points made by Anfield Towner.

However, Steve has had more than enough games to sort this out - 3 goals against is becoming "normal"

Strange comment regarding Hope - no word of suspension on the FA web site - so, was it a Club ban ?

How many games is he suspended for and why ?

As stated elsewhere - Whitehawk wont be easy and then Bury at home - needs some points soon !!!

Any sign of some new players coming in to shore things up ?

Tyler was heading for towards the goal before the foul pushed him wide so that was more than possibly a goal scoring opportunity but the other incident in the area looked more like Tyler catching his own foot and didn't look like a penalty from the pther side of the pitch.

But it's all about opinions.

Liam Hope got his 5th booking of the season against Hayes & Yeading so gets a one match ban for that. Middx FA haven't received the refs report but we as a club have to take some responsibility. Steve picked up on this and took the side of caution , if we played him and it came through late we would have lost any points gained in the match. Re the game today , the lads gave everything and they scored with their only 3 attempts on target. We were the better side and in my opinion the refs decisions ( lack of them cost us today ) . He was shocking

Comeon,

Thanks for clearing up the Liam situation.

Let's, Hope, he is back scoring soon.

Looks like we will just have to keep plugging away and hope for some better luck / decisions soon, but this 3 goals a game thing is getting beyond a joke..

Perhaps the pack needs a shuffle ?

Disappointing for our fans who travelled to see another dismal result , I was surprised the game went ahead . The bottom of the league is getting closer , Come on town wake up . In all honestly if we did finish in the relegation places I doubt we would drop , nudge nudge wink wink . ;)

Ermm, Rather NOT find out.

Town need to sort out the squad and bring in at least 4 new players.

By the way - according to the Leiston web site - Town only had 4 subs - is that correct ?

If true - sums up our lack in numbers and depth of quality.
