Wibbandune Closed Down!

Recommended Posts

So if your at cobham. Who has first call, you, Cobham or Mole valley? How do three clubs all playing saturday football share the same ground? Good luck AC for home fixtures!! I'm sorry to see you have a problem as you and Tony are good football people and I hope clubs give you the same support you have given them in the past.

Why did Croydon not agree to a switch of date and venue.Obviously they would of liked to of played closer to Home, and towards that end I even tried to contact Scott Hart on Friday/Saturday the Manager of the Arena,to see if the ground was available on January 2nd.In difficult times for CWU would like to feel that everyone would be obliging. As for the cost of the Ogronomist why the increase in cost?Surely the League with their vast wealth, could help a little towards this end, what a nice gesture that would be.MERRY XMAS EVERYONE.

Saturday 22nd December 2012 - 8.07pm

All CCL & Suburban League matches were postponed today.

Our home CCL game v Croydon on Saturday 29th December has been postponed. We had hoped to play this on 2nd January at Cobham FC but this was not convenient for our opponents.

Our League Cup tie v South Park will now take place at Cobham FC on Wednesday 9th January kick off 7.30pm.

Our remaining 2012/13 CCL and Suburban League home games will be played at alternative venues. Several clubs have offered their facilities and we will update the venues as they are arranged.

There will be an update regarding our under 18 youth team soon.

Wibbandune remains closed and an FA agronomist has been sourced to try to ascertain the pitch issues and solutions. We will advise more on this as and when the inspection happens. The cost is approximately £2,000 to the club!

Many thanks to all clubs and individuals for offers of help and financial assistance to our club. It is greatly appreciated and shows just what a warm family the CCL can really be at times of adversity.

Website fully updated.

Next update on Boxing Day.

Latest league bulletin has Tuesday 8th January for the league cup game v South Park.

Wood v Guernsey @ Cobham FC Wed 23rd January.

Latest ground and club update.

The club will appear before the management committee of the CCL on Monday 7th January 2013 to outline the current ground situation at Wibbandune.

Our league cup tie against South Park, scheduled for 8th January is postponed as Cobham FC have a reserve team match on the same evening. A new date will be announced shortly.

The club have disbanded their under 18 youth team with immediate effect due to ground availability issues and costs.

The home league match v Guernsey is still scheduled for Wednesday 23rd January at Cobham FC 7.30pm KO.

More updates as we have them.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank all CCL club officers and supporters for the tremendous support and help we have received over the past couple of weeks.

I think it is fair to say that all at CWUFC have been completely deflated by recent events but such support makes us all determined to "see it through" and, with the advent of some drier weather, there is a glimmer of light at the end of what is a very long tunnel.

We hope to be able to make further announcements following our meeting with the league on 7th January regarding the current season and beyond.

Looking at the Guernsey fixture issues makes us realise that anyone is vulnerable to weather problems and the comments on the following link made me rekindle my belief that non-league football really is a family affair!

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Cove on Saturday.

Next Saturday's "home" 1st team league match against Wembley has been postponed as we do not have a suitable ground available. A request to Wembley to switch the game to Friday evening was turned down.

The club will be approaching the Suburban league regarding our remaining four home league fixtures with a view to playing these midweek at Cobham FC.

We hope to have further announcements following the clubs' meeting with the CCL management committee on Monday evening.

LATEST NEWS........Tuesday 8th January 2013 – 11.20am

Wood committee members attended a meeting with the CCL management committee last night and first reports are of a positive conclusion which should allow Wood to complete the current season at least.

The league had some concerns re the use of the ground at Cobham FC and will allocate matches as they see fit.

The league will do all it can regarding outstanding home fixtures as well as sending supporting letters to the Football Foundation and the FA regarding the current pitch crisis at Wibbandune.

Wibbandune is due for a ground grading visit in the near future and the FA appointed agronomist will visit Wibbandune today, at a cost to the club of £2,400, ahead of a further visit from the FA on Friday.

The club are also delighted with the support offered by the Suburban League regarding the four outstanding league fixtures allowing this team to conclude their 2012/13 programme as well.

Dan Burnett (Chessington & Hook), Chris Gregson (Redhill) and Vigan Rexhepi (taking time out) have left the club with goalkeepers Dan Coles (cup tied tonight) and John McBride joining the club.

Wood face South Park tonight in the 2nd round of the league cup at Cobham FC 7.30pm KO.

Saturday's "home" league game v Wembley is officially postponed to a later date while the reserves visit Hanworth Villa (3pm KO).

Wood visit Molesey next Tuesday in the Surrey Senior Cup.

i wish you all the best !!

youd think the fa would stump up some if not all of the charge for the agronomist to help out a club

You'd certainly think so, however...........................
